Hard to compare this game to WoW, seeing as how Spore isn't a MMO. Its sure as hell massive, its online, but it isnt multiplayer. All the player creations and behavior are sent to a home server which is given to everyone else, which is controlled by the computer.
I kind of like the idea, but even in such an ambitiously large and realistic universe, its hard not to feel a little lonely when you arent actively interacting with anyone.

The game absolutely blows my mind. This is the type of game that makes one upgrade their PC just to play it.

Interacting with the content created by other people -- thousands of planets of it -- is enough to make one feel close. Though it would be insanely cool if the planets were little homeworlds and actively run by players. Gosh darn it, I just had a sporegasm.

Spore and Super Mario Galaxy... seems like 2007's gonna be a very cool and cosmic gamin' year...

"We travel... the spaceways... from planet... to planet..." (Sun Ra & Arkestra) :)

Now, if Spore is released on Wii, i'll really say WOW for years to come... right, Iwata-san? :)

I hadn't seen anything that screamed "next gen" to me until I saw this game in action. This is beyond epic. Here is a game that utilizes next-gen technology, but in a way that isn't focused simply on flashy graphics or a different method of control. The very CONCEPT of the game is utterly unthinkable.

It just sucks that I don't have a PC that would even entertain the notion of CONSIDERING running it.

I think Spore is the perfect next-gen game. I am a little disappointed in the multi-player aspect. It would be awsome interacting with other people, making alliances, enemies, and making intergalactic clans or groups to fight others, rather than playing with a mindless computer. I think it would a little lonely playing with a computer all the time but just to think of the choas there would be if it was a multi-player game only. There would be people playing it 24/7 until they got a UFO and would destroy every planet without hessiation. I guess thats why its a massively single player. I wish they just made a mode which you can play with other people like Player vs player in WOW. The game is great but multiplayer is but in next-gen games.

I wonder how they will make Spore for the Wii? Is there going to be online? How are the controls going to be? Enough of the Wii, I wonder if you're going to need a $2,000 computer to be able to run Spore? If new creatures and planets etc, are being sent to your computer will you need space on your computer all the time for room? Will you need to download or update stuff when ever player creations are sent to your computer? How much space will it take up? Can you make more than one account? Can you make as many creatures as you want to put on your planet? How does the whole trading card thing work with all the creatures? If game runs out of planets for people to inhabit(Which I high doubt) will there be more planets, galaxies, etc, added? Are there going to be expansions way later in the future? These are a few questions I have that I would like to be answered. Thx

OK I'm lost what's a Wii?? Anywho, I had thought up of a game like this and come to find out someone else has beat me to the punch by nearly a year V.v; oh well. Anywho, from what I can tell it looks awsome and I don't mind playing a mindless computer (i'm kinda mindless myself)... at least it doesn't come terrorising you like many PKP I've run into in many Mass Multi Players. I hate having to run for my Character's life (usually dieing anyways) while trying to work so hard for that character. I don't mind interacting with other charcters and the occational duels but Pirates and PKPs just ruin games for me. So I'm quite happy with Single player games that and I don't have a permenent access to the network anyway.

I'm wondering about one thing though... does anyone have a guess as to what computer specs are needed to run the game(plans to buy a new one if needed)
