Seen at E3: A message to MMOs

Best. MMORPG. Title. Ever.

Until you find out that the game is centred around an evil race of elves that are trying to take over the world and it is your job, as a 20 something strapping young hero with sword and shield, to destroy them all.

This is a problem for all of fantasy really. Its odd that fantasy writers, artist and developers don't come up with there own creations more often.

If there are elves in a game its usualy indicates lack of imagination to me. Oh well I still love Oblivion.

My friend actually quit WoW because of the inclusion of Blood Elves. He says he joined the "monster" side for a reason, and I can see his point

Then you look at the new race, Draenei. Regardless of whether you find the lore for them believable, it is a very cool twist from the traditional fantasy stereotypes- a demonic-looking race that is good/holy. I think find that very interesting. They do make the whole worn-out Elf thing look bland and outdated

At first glance, I actually thought it said Elvis Must Die.

I could actually get into the MMO genre if it weren't for all the standard elves/wizards/fairys/trolls/goblins. Actually, come to think of it...I couldn't MMORPG games are the bane of my existence. They do to things, ruin lives and charge you an extra $15 per month on top of the $50 to buy the game for doing so.

Why the hell do I play MMOs when I hate other players so much? It is a mystery.

MAN I AGREE, take out the Elves the Wizards, the Goblins, the trolls,

AND Just LEave THe WHite ANglo Saxon White Guy to wield Magic a steel and the ability to Kill Only other Anglo saxon white GUYS! WOW I think we are on to something annihilate all other races in Fantasy MMO's so we can just PVP Each Other, JUST LIKE FPS! I mean it isn't enough that I can Kill my friend in ELF form NO! I want to Really Believe I am stabing HIm! HE has to be Human for me to see this.

Since when did "generic fantasy races suck" translate out to "white people only"? We're talking about elves, here, not black people. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you?
