Wiimote: Colors for all

We almost missed these beauties at Nintendo's booth, but thankfully we were able to stop swaying our hips with Wario Ware just long enough to snap a picture. We didn't see a single black or blue Wii console anywhere on the show floor, but we're hoping that those colors will be available on store shelves as soon as the system launches. [Insert Bondi Blue joke here.]

Why nobody took this picture with flash?...

A red Wii... quite an interesting concept there...

Helllooooooooooooooo Black!
Totalgamerzone @ May 13th 2006 12:44AM

I WANT THE LIME GREEN :..(
Zorblaz @ May 13th 2006 1:22AM
I still like my Spice (orange) cube controller. I can bring that to anyone's house and there is never any confusion wether it is theirs or not. I was hoping for a lime green wiimote- guess that won't happen.

What - no red? I wanted the red one they showed last year! What happened to it? I mean, Apple envy beats the Gamecube design, but these colors are so bland!
pfass @ May 13th 2006 1:54AM
Is the black Wii bigger than the white Wii? :)
Blink @ May 13th 2006 1:55AM
You all realize, there will be a lot more colors in Japan, and you'll just be able to import whatever you want a year after launch, right? We saw it with Gamecube, DS, GBA, and all the variations of the above, so I fully expect it to happen again here. Lik-Sang or Play-Asia will be your tickets to suave turquoise controllers.

yeah... i'm thinking, forget blue; i want candy red.
jadenguy @ May 13th 2006 2:55AM
i think not releasing black at launch is a clever tactic. they know people will trade the system in for a black one later, or import, or whatever they have to do to get a black system. i actually waited for a special edition dual tone sp before getting it, but i was so totally gonna buy a black one. also i didn't have the money before then...
but by not releasing the black systems too early, they create a market of people who are willing to pay for two units in order to get the features of the white/purple/silver editions they release first. funny that sony broke the trend with the ps2 and psp, and my friend with the psp complains!
Greg2k @ May 13th 2006 6:05AM
Pretty sure black will be a launch color. It was the official color at last year's E3, so this means they have been considering it as the official launch color for some time. And considering how many people are buying black everything lately (even though the iPod white is getting a lot of attention), I think it would be a huge success.
AM GETTIN' ONE!

NOPE.. once you go black, you never go back.
uglypugly @ May 13th 2006 1:01PM
For Zelda:TP, I know someone who's gunna pull a "duck hunt" in the bow mini-games >.< sit right up against the screen for the win ^_^

"A red Wii... quite an interesting concept there..."
It's not red, it's white.
aut0b0t0pt1mus @ May 13th 2006 7:16PM
how about a nice yellow wii? or is that just asking for it ?
Joshi @ May 13th 2006 10:22PM
I really hope we see the lime green one at launch! That seems quite unlikely, though.
Of all the five colors shown at E3 last year, my least favorite was actually silver. It's just so...bland. Of course, I hate silver cars, too.
And are you guys sure that the black controller is black, and not "Enamel Navy"? I could see Nintendo matching the Wii and the DS Lite (although I'm not a huge fan of blue).
Capt. Castellanos @ May 13th 2006 10:55PM
sigh.
now do you see this!?
this is the WORST thing about nintendo!
i have such a hard time choosing colors...
because they ALL look SO AWESOME!!!
gah, i CAN'T wait!!!
uglypugly @ May 14th 2006 1:11AM
For GC i got purple... black... and silver controllers XD and blue/gray/purple for the N64
nelson @ May 14th 2006 3:13PM
I just hope they launch with four distinct controller colours. It would be that much easier for people to discern which Wii-mote is theirs. It is Nintendo's goal, after all, for each person in the house to have their own.
Oh yeah, and I hope the Nunchuk attachment is sold with the controller in idencticle colours.
shivam @ May 16th 2006 6:59AM
it's not black, it's the same navy blue as the DS Lite.
