GTA Vice City Stories announced for PSP [update 1]
In case you missed the press release - we did - Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories in the midst of last week's chaos. The title (and Rockstar) was conspicuously absent from the E3 showroom floor, despite being targeted for an October 17 release (in North America). Still, this is far from a surprise revelation - and it's a game that has been rumored to exist since Liberty City Stories debuted. Now, it's just official.Update: added official logo.
[Thanks, Soulo]

Hopefully this offering won't be as bland as "Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City with some bikes and a different story no one cares about".
Exxo @ May 16th 2006 3:37PM

#5: Well of cpurse, they're market farmers. If something grows large and sells strong, keep planting that crop.

There must be some mistake... people are still making PSP games?
Xander224 @ May 16th 2006 4:51PM
Yes, new PSP games coming out this year that look good are: LocoRoco, Killzone:Liberation, MGS,and GTA:Vice City Stories.
Yes, Nintendo has been milking their Mario cow forever.
Momus @ May 16th 2006 5:29PM
Mario is more-or-less their mascot and, despite how numerous they are, his games vary a lot more than GTA does.
Ace @ May 16th 2006 5:33PM
Cool, another GTA game..........
DinnyHoon @ May 16th 2006 5:46PM
Hurray, the game I've overplayed gets to be played on a bus!
I'm actually really pleased that VCS has been announced, Vice City is the best out of all 3 (the 80s thing etc), and you cant get bored of good ol' GTA!
Korey @ May 16th 2006 5:52PM
And I was Just about to sell my PSP Now MGS and This Brothers in arms looks good too hurray now i need to figure out how to connect my revolution and PSP i play both sides of the field cuz theyre the best systems

This is the perfect example of why you can't trust the internet for actual feedback!
Everyone around bitches about GTA, yet it is still a top selling title. It's always like that, a small number of extremely vocal gamers that have major personal issues when it comes to "console war".
This game will sell well, no matter how many forum readers bitch. Most gamers don't post about what they like or dislike on the net.
H.H @ May 16th 2006 6:02PM
The fact of the matter is GTA is a mainstream game and the mainstream has no problem having the same shit regurgitated and fed to them over and over again. Whereas many actual gamers have gotten tired of the same old song and dance. Whoo-hoo.... rockstar is going to make some more money doing its same old unoriginal thing. Remind me why I should care please.
Shadowcast @ May 16th 2006 6:24PM
@6, yes and some damn fine ones too including those mentioned above, Every Extend Extra, Dungeon Seiege: Thorne Of Agony, MGS (yes I know it was said above but really MGS, porper no cards based, MGS), Tekken: Dark Resurection, Crisis Core: FF VII, Monster Hunter Freedom.
But back on topic, if this is anything near the jump GTA3 to VC was then I for one will be getting it, I'll probably get it anyway as VC was easily the best GTA game ever IMHO, but yeah the LCS on PS2 thing was rubbish though, hope this stays PSP exclusive.
mvi @ May 16th 2006 6:32PM
Don't stop there #7 what about Gangs Of London, Gran Turismo 4 and Gun Showdown.
twism @ May 16th 2006 6:54PM
I'm tired of GTA games. Its all the same ol sh+t. Put something out original for the PSP and stop porting crap.
Xander224 @ May 16th 2006 7:41PM
Yeah! Stop porting stuff to the DS too. Like Mario 64, Mario Kart, Rayman, Conker......
neale @ May 17th 2006 2:41AM
i used to enjoy GTA a lot. but now, ive no interest what so ever in it.
ill prob pick up gta4 for 360 when its out, but the only difference im expecting is the graphics

Oh Xander, you can call Nintendo a cow milker and rehasher all you want, the fact is that for them it works, and for the little brick that couldn't -- the PSP -- it doesn't.
Babylonian @ May 17th 2006 11:02AM
I really, really, _really_ want to give a damn. :| I'm just GTA'd out.
Bender @ May 17th 2006 11:04AM
Xander, I don't really understand why pointing out Nintendo's re-making of Mario makes things any better for GTA.
Put simply, this GTA game is another very similar game to what has already been released, regardless of Nintendo or anyone else.
Everyone knows that Mario, Zelda, etc, are put in games all the time. Putting others down in order to prop yourself up does nothing to strengthen your argument.
Rockstar imo needs to broaden their IP base. Re-making the same game over and over won't do much for them in the long term. One day people will realise that they don't want to play another GTA and Rockstar will then be in a lot of trouble.
They've got some talent and i'd like to see them put it to better use.

I like to do something I call a semi-protest by purchasing a game used (when you get it used none of that money goes to the game publisher or developer), and making it clear to the game company I don't intend to buy a game from them unless they fix the flaws that are present in every game in the series.
Sure, I don't see any major improvements in the series, but, I don't consider myself a victim or a pawn of Rockstar...and it sure does feel good to play/protest/steal TOTALLY GUILT FREE!
