This again proves the fact that we here in Europe know alot of America but Americans do almost know nothing about European people. Some people even think Sweden is capital of some country.. But what I am now really trying to say is that the text in the image isn't really German, it's Dutch. That country next to Germany on the map.. But anyway next time use Systranbox instead of FreeTranslation to translate your shizzle :P

Symetrix (and Cage),

With the speed the Marketplace downloads have been downloading on my XBox 360 (and, yes I do own one, Cage) there would be absolutely no impact whatsoever to online play because the downloads are not consuming even a tenth of my available bandwidth.

If it was done perfectly the dashboard would partition bandwidth intelligently (kinda like BitTorrent) and use only the available bandwidth for downloads.

It's a good first step, but I hope this is not the last update from Microsoft to improve the download capabilities.

Incidently, to me, as I play online almost exclusively, this change does nothing. I would still have to drop to the dashboard and wait until the download is done to get any gaming on.

Pixelantes Anonymous, bandwidth "partitoning" doesn't eliminate download induced lag. The client doesn't get to tell the server how to spread the packets out over a range, and even if it were possible to do the network infrastructure of the internet may not oblige.

This sort of thing typically works by slowing down the packet ACK process and still results in bursts of data and other lag inducing behavior.

Pls read the article: The downloads will be paused completely when playing online! They only run when playing offline in single player and live arcade mode or when a user is in the dashboard. Nothing to worry about.

I'm glad the added this feature, I also think that it would seriously bring in more sales for them. I mean most of the time I don't feel like downloading something because I know it will take a while, and I don't feel like waiting for it to download when I could be gaming. Also the queue system will be very helpful as well, would have been nice to have during E3. Only thing left is to get a bigger hard drive right? haha

Nice response Pixelantes:
"If it was done perfectly the dashboard would partition bandwidth intelligently (kinda like BitTorrent) and use only the available bandwidth for downloads."

In a perfect world this would be ideal. Unfortunately it might be too complicated to implement on a wide scale like Xbox Live. That and the fact that if it does too much MS might try to raise the price! :) Not as knowledgable on online/bandwith usage (maybe you should have explained in your first post?). Like you said...its a good first step.
