Mass Effect updated screens
GameBanshee has scored 28 new screen shots of BioWare's Mass Effect, the sci-fi RPG that hits the 360 next year. Looks like the Canadian developer is giving us their usual attention to detail in atmosphere, story, and character development. Read our first impressions from last week's E3 demo, and see what GameSpot had to say.

Oblivion's thrown down the guantlet and hopefully Mass Effect can rise to the challenge.
Personally, I'm optimistic & have great faith in the developer. Plus, it'll be so refreshing to play a Bioware game unconstrained by the Star Wars universe.

From all the screenshots to some of the videos, I am excited to see how high microsoft and the second wave of games are going to set the bar for other developers. Now if I didnt have a kid & wife, my excitement would be double since I would actually have time to play this & many other games on the X360. Long live no social life!

I was impressed by what Bioware did with their own universe in Jade Empire with regards to storytelling, and especially with regards to graphics. Needless to say, the screens that have been shown for Mass Effect have been mind-blowing. Hopefully the quality of the storytelling and the gameplay will match the graphics.

Please let this be spiritual successor to Starflight I've been waiting so long for someone to craft.
Kamalot @ May 19th 2006 1:47PM
I'd pay $600 for that...
Good thing I don't have to. ;-)

I was excited about this until I found out it was an RPG.. YAWN Leave that crap on the PC, stop trying to make games that don't belong on consoles. Oblivion had "kinda ok" graphics, absolutely nothing next-gen, the sword fighting/combat is horrible. Just button mash the right trigger and move back and forth. Do people really sword fight like that?? The scope of Oblivion is awesome, but also annoying.. I feel like I'm going in circles in that game with no chance of ever finishing it. And then their is the dialog "STOP IN THE NAME OF THE LAW" over and over and over.. Geesh, get some alternate dialog going.. Anyway, I assume much of the same from Mass Effect, except instead of horrible sword play it will be some horrible excuse for FPS or third person shooter when you get into a fire fight. One suggestion I can make is please have the dialog match the lips moving AT LEAST do that if you're going to make an RPG..

I really, really hope this game is better than Jade Empire. I loved KOTOR, but Jade Empire makes me a little cautious about getting excited over this one.

Both Mass Effect and Too Human are: Sci-fi, futuristic, use Unreal engine 3, trilogies, exclusively for the Xbox 360. I also like both Bioware and Silicon Knights, as I have beaten Jade Empire, and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. Whichever one I get I'll need to get the next two. Which one do I go with? Should I get both? (I posted this somewhere else but no one answered).
Regula Oblique @ May 19th 2006 3:35PM
To Judd:
Get them both they'll probably both be good, and the first games of each will probably help you alot with your decision if you want to buy the next games in the trilogy, Remember the game Advent Rising it was supposed to be great! and also scheduled as a trilogy but it crashed right at release. so basically the first games will call the shots at whether Mass effect and too human are good enough to be trilogies.

yeah uhhh is it to early to call the next-gen wars in MSFT's favor?
The ZeroCorpse @ May 19th 2006 3:55PM
Give me a new version of Star Control and I'll be happy as a clam.
Logic Bus @ May 19th 2006 7:13PM
Does anyone else get the feeling that this will be the game they longed for after playing through Knights of the Old Republic four or five times? (KotOR II wasn't that game.)
Darth Pixel @ May 19th 2006 7:40PM
It doesn't look that good, actually, check that:

In response to post 7, go play Jade Empire or Kotor 1. Bioware would shoot themselves and never make another game if the voiceovers didn't match the dialogue.
Anyway, This is the only reason I want an X-Box 360. Since Bioware is building a new IP with this game, they arn't going to overlook any detail. And with two more sequals coming during the 6-8 year 360 lifespan this could very well become the game to beat, as Bioware will only up the ante with bridging content and sequals. Not to mention the excellent dialouge flow and what sounds like more optimization than Kotor (with vehicle optimization as well as weapons, armour, and character) I can only hope that Bioware doesn't get screwed over by Microsoft like it did with the early price reductions of Jade Empire.
I just wonder now if it's getting pushed early for the winter holidays as months ago it was listed as summer 2007 release and now is back as TBD...

Ok whoever wrote that they liked KOTOR and not Jade Empire, you obviously are an idiot and just liked the star wars part of KOTOR. If anything, in terms of gameplay Jade Empire improved on that type of game. I guess you might not like the storyline but alot of it was taken from actual chinese myths and i personally enjoyed it. They did alot of research for Jade Empire and put alot of time into it, and it has a higher rating on most game sites than KOTOR. (Ign.com being one of them). I dont understand what you didn't like about Jade Empire if you liked KOTOR.
