Totally awesome E3 games that everyone missed
Lore Sjöberg of Wired took a look at the games from - Sandbox -- playing off the popularity of open-ended GTA style games comes Sandbox, a game that's 100% true to its genre. Sandbox exposes children to the delights of a real life sandbox, sans the real life sand. The developers told Sjöberg that they'd like to include a shovel and bucket in the final game, "but that may not be a realistic goal."
- Mission: Marketplace -- this game progresses the demand for downloadable content and episodic games to its climax. Mission: Marketplace's innovation is that it requires players to purchase all the content separately -- alternatively you can just plunk down $200 and watch the credits roll. We can't wait for this one.

The only thing worse than unfunny articles, are people who report on unfunny articles. OMG! Just kidding.

And I should hope so too!

Maybe if I started getting stars for my legitimate posts, I wouldn't be so bitter!!!
I should have definately gotten some stars on the post about the digital actress!!!
Zedd @ May 19th 2006 8:25AM
And you were planning to use these stars for... ?
Conrad Quilty-Harper @ May 19th 2006 8:46AM
Fair enough martin, fair enough! It was a good comment!

Here is the real actresses page with an image on it. They used huge eyes because she really does have huge eyes. I think later on when they are actually doing the scene some of it can look really good. Still a long way to go though. Facial expressions would be helpful. If you notice though, any profile shot actually does seem to pull it across a little better."
This one was pretty good as well (on the subject of Lara Croft being a guy): "Wonder what would have happened if it was a guy, and they took the same route making stuff bigger each game?"

A lot of Microsoft's "innovative" measures seem to consist of, you guessed it, taking more of your money! Want to upgrade that old banger of a car you have? Why, if you're a rich kid, you'll be tearing it up on the virtual streets online! Tired of bland, textured walls? In-game advertising is the answer! I'm an Xbox owner, and I am planning on getting a 360 when the cooler ones are released in 2007 (maybe along with a Wii), but M$ really does seem to be living up to its pejorative nickname.

I know I will get a negative star for this, but I really hate it when people complain about their "stars". It's silly.
Jenever @ May 19th 2006 9:26AM
If Lara Croft were a guy, you'd be playing an Indiana Jones licence.

National Sarcasm Society: Like we need your support.
Threnody @ May 19th 2006 10:23AM
Seriously, it was an okay attempt at humour but it just falls flat. Better luck next time.

Lore SEVERELY misspelled this one, but at least he got the colon in the right place; this game's actually called Magic: The Gathering. :)X

#9: Go back and read one of his earlier columns, the Wikipedia FAQK. Probably the best thing he's done at Wired.

Lame "story". Next time, just don't post anything.
Conrad Quilty-Harper @ May 19th 2006 1:49PM
Threnody and martinmarv - you're either taking this article's sarcastic theme to the next level or you don't have a sense of humour. My vote's for the latter: lighten up 'yo!
