Weekly Webcomic Wrapup: May 14 - 20, 2006 [update 2]

Thanks to figmentPez we're adding Dragon Tails to this week's edition. We've already given props to Ctrl+Alt+Del this week, so barring that here are some of our favorite game-related webcomics for the week -- be sure to vote for your favorite!

[update 1: our cms server thought it'd be fun to add http:// twice to the beginning of a few links -- the server has been properly reprimanded and the links are now fixed.]

The VGCats episode would be funny if Nintendo actually had a record of abusing their fans. Sony would be the better choice here. $600 price tag much?

CTRL ALT DEL wasn't nominated, mainly because that was from the week before last.

As we often say, keep on shroomin': Not funny.
I saved a penny, once.: Pretty funny, although I'd read that earlier in the week.- 3rd place

O, Nintendo: Hell no. Not funny. VG Cats is overrated.

Usually I love Vgcats but that comic i felt was poor, i mean it was soooooo late to the whole name is Wii thing it just wasn't funny. I mean really it had simply stopped being funny at that point, you need to do the comic while its still fresh. A very rare miss indeed. Still the artwork is as usual AMAZING! and the last 2 panels were great. It just would have been funnier a week ago

The myextralife one is just urg looking at some of the past comics im glad i've never found that one X.X

Dragon Tails the script was funny but there was only one drawing of each dragon and the 3d dragons have no emotion.

Dueling analogs is really good but I didn't find it funny. I mean the art is great and the idea but it just didn't make me laugh.

So for me its Penny Arcade for the win. I just love the expressions on their faces lol ^_^

Thats a pretty good comic Scott, its definetly a good start. I especially like the burnout meets nintendo one. Although i have to say a girl gamer who is an xbox fanboy? Ah funny, girl gamers are pretty rare as it is but the xbox is as testosterone filled as you can get.
I added it to my favorites, and now heres hoping that you become mega popular and i can act like a jerk and say i read it before it was popular =D

Have to say, I was quite disappointed by the PA one. Actually, come to think of it they've seemed a little off lately. Although, that Wii one (4/28) was very much on the money.

I don't know which I'd pick as the best one from the list, though. All of them seem a little slow, to me.

Usually Dueling Analogs is as terrible as Press Start to play, but this week it was awesome so it earned my vote. I hope he continues to write clever comics rather than the terrible in game jokes that fail to be clever even if you have played the game and know what they are talking about, that they and Press Start to Play are famous for.

VG cats sucked, put it will probably beat DA because it is more popular, which is a shame cause the DA should get a little positive reinforcement when he finally gets it right.

I REALLY hope the third comic wins. VGCats didn't even try to make the comic funny this time around, and instead went for the "Ooh disgusting!" punch. The middle comic is nothing short of excellent... and it's probably the most original one I've seen. ;)

Dueling Analog's comic of a code more famous than that Leonardo one* is the clear winner here.
Konami has put some form of that code into nearly all of its games... And it has had a wide array of effects depending on the game, or HOW you input it (it can even have negative effects!).

The funniest DA I've ever seen, for sure, but it's good to see a quality newcomer in the form of Dragon Tails.

As for Fanboy Online, Scott, while your comic has some great moments of humour, and the art is well done, please, please, please stop spelling "you're" as "your" and ignoring places where apostrophes are required.

yeah, sorry bout that al. People like to tell me how i butcher the english language. i'll be sure to fix the typos in all the old new entries and comics, as well as do my best to keep bad grammer from happening again.

for a bunch of "brainless pimple faced gamers", bad grammar really ticks people off. eh jacko?

and once again thanks for the good feed back. its very relieving to see people like my comics.
