Nintendo confirms June 23rd European DS lite launch

Where there were rumors there are now facts: the DS lite will be launching in Europe on the 23rd of June for £99.99/149.99 EUR. As a way of compensating people for the extra two week wait over the North American launch, the European DS lite will be available in black at launch. However, I'm sure the majority of potential European DS lite customers would forego this novelty in exchange for some price equality: Europeans will pay the equivalent of $191 for the DS lite whilst Britons will pay $187. Compare that to how much Americans will be paying on the 11th of June: $129.

Just a warning for everybody excited about the black DS Lite. I currently own the Enamel Navy, and in retrospect I think I would have prefered the Crystal White. When it is clean, the Enamel Navy looks a lot sexier than the white (and in my opinion the black as well) but it is rarely clean.

After a couple hours of gaming, the dark glossy finish is downright nasty looking. In fact, I get more comments on now smudged the finish is than I do on how nice it looks.

Glossy black is great on stationary electronics, and even on the iPod because most people dont touch the surface much, but on something you are constantly touching and handling like a DS I will definately stay away from dark, glossy colors in the future.

DAMMIT!!! i want a black DS Lite. when will they release the black 1 in the US? but u know if the black color is wat that $23 premium is for then ill just go with the white 1.....and not match any of my other gadgets.....
