UK sales charts, May 14-20: Footy still fave
The UK charts are looking pretty static this week, with FIFA still top dog and Pro Evo joining it. We can't walk into a shop or pub without seeing England flags and football-themed goods everywhere, and the games industry is no exception to football fever. Coinciding with recent movie releases, X-Men shoots in at number six, with The Da Vinci Code making its debut at number twelve.1. FIFA World Cup Germany 2006
2. Pro Evolution Soccer 6
3. Tomb Raider: Legend
4. Animal Crossing: Wild World
5. Championship Manager 2006
6. X-Men: The Official Game
7. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
8. The Sims 2
9. Ice Age 2: Meltdown
10. The Godfather

Lewigi @ May 22nd 2006 5:18PM
I think you mean Pro Evolution Soccer 5.
Pro evo 6 doesnt exist and never will.
The next game is going to be called "winning eleven pro evolution soccer 2007" in all territories.

Pro Evolution 6 at #2? Doesnt the game actually have to be made before it can enter the charts?
DinnyHoon @ May 22nd 2006 5:20PM
I think you mean Pro Evo 5... Pro Evo 6 is kinda unmade...
Rocky @ May 22nd 2006 5:42PM

Doesn't anyone else find it worrying that both number eight and number four in the sales charts are actually simulations of real life?
I don't even mean realistic war simulations, they're simulations of stuff that everyone does on a day to day basis. It boggles the mind.
ChaosInTheSnow @ May 22nd 2006 7:47PM
They're refering to the platinum version of Pro Evo 5

I will say it now: Animal Crossing: Wild World may become the Brain Age for the UK. Watch it out.

Animal crossing is doing well epecialy since uk waited so long to get it. looks like the title is actualy going up in the charts.
Krazyman @ May 23rd 2006 4:27AM
It is PES6. Pre-orders.
Which brings me to another question. Was there ever a game that topped the charts and that still had to be released. I'm thinking the likes of Gran Turismo, final Fantasy, Dragon quest, Tomb raider 2(way back),GTA
ChaosInTheSnow @ May 23rd 2006 11:15AM
I don't think it's Pro Evo 6 pre-orders, somehow, given the fact that pre-orders aren't included in charts, since pre-orders don't count as sales. Plus if you head over to sites such as Gameplay you'll see that Pro Evo 5 platinum is indeed riding high in the sales charts. No game has been in the charts before release (except the in-store charts which are partially based on pre-orders), real charts only include actual unit sales.
