Yahoo crawls website much faster then google, though I can't exactly say which one gets better results (i'm used to using google but semi-turning to yahoo every now and then). Also, Google has a weird way to sort who goes on top and stuff. if nintendo's website would be www.wii.com it would be different. Nintendo will need to wait a couple more months before their site gets listed in the top 10 and once they do, they might not end up being in first place unless you use the keywords "Nintendo Wii". That's what I think at least.

Googling (or Yahooing) "Wii" brings up only one result on the front page that isn't related to Nintendo's Wii, and MSNing brings up a page of nothing BUT real Wii-related results. What the hell are you people talking about?

This is a little irrelevant, no? Anyone searching for Wii is going to be doing so in the context of games, anyway. In that respect at the very least it's far more unique than "Revolution". Try sticking that in your search engine.

"But Nintendo's Wii is quickly gaining ground, already nabbing most of Yahoo's top results. Now, it's only a matter of time before Nintendo's console dominates search engines across the 'net."

Then how is it not unique enough to get people to search for information about it?

Have to wonder if one of the reasons Nintendo went with Wii is that the connotations of Revolution weren’t always desirable, especially in countries like China.

By far the bigger atrocity is that a G4TV article is listed as "news" on the search results page.

This article is comparing a singular word to acronyms. I don't really think the uniqueness is called too much into question there. The only way nothing else would come up if if they named the system something like "Zaboonanafu".

The only reason Wii isn't first place in google is
because:WildlifeInstitute ofIndiawii.gov.inI
don't know how google really works (not many people does) but i'm
sure any top level domain especially government sites will be listed
as primary. As for Wii not being different enough, it is. Think if
people were calling Nintendo the Revolution? I doubt you would find
Nintendo Revolution if you simply typed in "revolution" in the search
engine. *checks* nope, not even on the first page. So there you have
it, when it comes to google Wii > RevolutionAs for Wii,
Nintendo is located in second place only because they don't have
their own domain name (most likely).

[If my post looks messed up its because the first time i clicked on submit, it made a comment for another thread which is weird so i just copied and pasted the code]

not a big deal. takes a while for any term to gain relevance on google. could be anywhere from 1 to 3 months.

Ummm...
I just did a search on Google for Wii...
And got wii.nintendo.com as the first result...
But I used Firefox's builtin search bar...
Going to google.com and searching did bring up the Wildlife place first though...
...

Uhhh... Is the point of this article pro or con Wii? So Google doesn't have Wii as the very first link when searching for the video game console... Should video games be the dominance of the internet. Do you want Google to bow down to you and change, because you do not want the inconvenience of scrolling down a little bit. God, like it matters any way, and I never, and I mean never flame, but this may be the first time. This article was awful, meaningless, and the only reason this article caught my attention was because I have been looking for any news of the bonafide price or release date. So the most horrible argument of "Well why did you read it then?" will in this case not work.

So thank you, for this article???

So let me get this straight. Now that Nintendo isn't competing with Playstation and Xbox it's competing with the Wildlife Institute of India?

Idiots! Just use MSN search engine. It serves you Wii-sters right for turning your back on Microsoft. The biggest and best explosions are on Xbox360!!! And Sony already stole your controller so you have nothing innovative left to brag about.

Guys, it's because right now wii are too busy looking at the news engine rather than the websites. That's where the stuff isfor the next few weeks.

Nintendo's website is #1 on google for me when I search for Wii. India wildlife is 2, and IGN Wii is 3. Six out of the top ten search results have to do with Nintendo Wii. Maybe it has something to do with location?

Hopefully their product design is better than their marketing strategy.
