Really, WOW thanks for the heads up eCom! I never got that from watching the trailer.

I might pick this game up. It looks pretty snazzy. I like how you said "he is certifiably insane - it's all about fun". When did games become sipping tea at the Queens place? Fun+Mental makes a game. I reckon at least.

"In some instances, you may need to control (and not fight the bunnies), which you can do via the power of disco music!"

THAT's what grandpa was doing!

@jay - Fun+mental=cult classic. This game has everything it needs so far to qualify as such (save for the Dana Plato appearance, or at the least, a reference).

It is very interesting that he said the screenshots are from the Wii version. I downloaded screens of this game from IGN during E3 and noticed something strange about them: the pictures were all 1280 pixels wide and 720 pixels high. That is 720p HD!

Is there a small chance that Nintendo will surprise us with support for 720p HD closer to the Wii launch? I think it is possible. The Nintendo 64 had an optional memory expansion pack that made it possible to display games like Turok in 640 X 480. Wii could utilise such a peripheral to display 720p video. I imagine that is what the space under the DVD slot is for. Watch that space...

#4 -- it's probably the results of PROGRESSIVE SCAN, which was available on the GCN for sometime. You had to get an extra cable to plug into the back, and because of the low demographic even using it, Nintendo removed the port from it in later versions of the GCN, to save money of course.

HiDef or not, if the GCN had Progressive Scan, surely the Wii will have that option. Oh, and in case you're wondering what ProgScan is, it kinda "scans" your TV and (in the case of some games, not all) would stretch the picture to fit your TV perfectly and (in the case of every Progressive Scan enabled game) make the image much much sharper and clearer by aligning with your TV, so to speak. I don't kno the tech terms for all of that, but I just explained it on Lamen's terms.

Everytime I read something about this guy he just seems more and more... French. I hate to be one of "those guys" but man it's starting to annoy me.

If I can get my hands on a Wii and one game before Xmas, this one might be it. Beyond Good and Evil was so surprisingly fun.

P.S. "HELP ME OUT JADE! HELP ME OUT JADE!" That pig hated me by the end of BG&E. His yelps of pain struck me as incredibly funny, so I occaisionally let things kick the crap out of him. I may need help.

Sol, that's a very interesting point. even if the system maxed out at 720p I would be comfortably happy. I have a 1080p screen so any up in resolution will be great. Though I really wouldn't mind 480p. Us brits have only been playing in 480i! Our GC's couldn't output an S-Video signal too. any increase over 480i will have me jumping through hoops.
AlloyNES, Progressive scan wouldn't have upped it to 720p. The Wii certainly outputs at 480p so it will have prog. scan as standard.

Actually, Progressive Scan refers to the way the screen is drawn on your set. most standard televisions use an "interlaced" signal, where every other line is drawn and it happens so fast that you see the whole image, at the cost of reduced image clarity. Progressive Scan allows lines to br drawn in order, not skipping, and the result is a sharper image with better color saturation and imrpoved resolution.

The resolution can vary, as progressive scan can support 480, 720, or 1080 vertical lines of resolution, depending on the set, the hardware attached to the set, and the way the game itself is programmed. 480p is not considered to be true high-definition, since it is actually almost identical to standard broadcast definition but with increased image quality.

What is much more likely is that the images shown have all been upconverted to higher resolutions by means of a dedicated hardware device.

Actually they are rumours that certain Nintendo patents refer to ways you can make HD visuals without HD.

SD hasn't been maxed out you know. People thought the Rayman screens were from the PS3 or 360 version or weren't real time,

It should be noted that the Rayman games don't tap out the system's power. Perhaps Michel has a lot more info on what is in the final wii dev kits then most other developers. Perhaps they trust him to not spill the beans.

Jay: European GCs are 576i, IIRC, as they are PAL. You can also get much better output out of it than S-Video with the RGB SCART cable.
