I think they need to stop focusing on paying for the game, and actually focus on making an mmo worth playing. Nuff said

There are alot or free MMO's in Asian contries, and they do the same thing, just make money off of micropayments.

Also, the most popular games in Korea, at least, have no subscription fees. All revenue is made off of micropayments. I love that idea.

Actually, there's been a fair few games that have made money through micropayments. Some, such as Gunbound, were made in Korea and found an audience here, while others, such as Puzzle Pirates, are Western games. It's certainly not the norm, but nor is it untested.
