That's what you get for cheating online. If your are going to cheat, do it in the single player campaign on your own time. Don't screw everyone cause you don't have skills.

Oh wow, some of those letter are so funny. Way to go Bungie.

Personally I wonder how a child can have such a good grasp on computers and modding consoles, and at the same time have absolutely no idea how to spell (or know why cheating is wrong):
"My account has been band , but I have not done anything wrong on my account. I was wondering why I have been bant and if you can unbaned me please."

Posting letters is a weak attempt to distract us from the fact that WIDE SPREAD CHEATING continues to occuring every day on LIVEe, and they're not doing enough to address it.

And to any potential bungie cheerleaders, time, money, practicality are not sufficient reasons for not fixing a problem that they created (maps).

The ability to boot, a personal ban list, or a subset of servers would help.

It's good to see some developers taking action against cheaters. Too bad XBC is still taint with cheaters/modders... That's something I'll have to be content with, because I don't see myself actually Paying for something like xbl. So, until the day comes when xbl is free- I'll just bitch to my friends about the cheaters/modders I come across on XBC.

"if your gonna do the crime - be prepared to do the crime"

^^yea, yea- you corrected the mistake, but still had to laugh.

I never really understood the point to cheating in multiplayer games.

I've seen several articles on certain players accused of cheating on PC games because they just played a little too well. But in this case, I'm assuming that Bungie and the MS techs have some form of monitoring software to sense illegal play on their servers.

I stopped playing Halo2 a while back, but for the money I spent on the game, plus the money that goes towards my xbox live membership, I would assume/ like for MS to have a special team of programmers on board to identify and disable the various hacks all throughout the products lifecycle. I understand that they cant just hotfix and patch every single game out there, but some games are obviously going to be less prone to cheaters. Halo2 obviously should be monitored and patched more regularly than it has.

Pedro, you forgot to add, ''In my opinion'' and the end of your opinion. But i'm pretty sure the huge sales and the ton of players that play this game on Xbox Live and the novels that are perhaps one of the greatest book reads ever, make your statement worthless anyway. Go play ..Killzone or something, you know, the game that was supposed to be a Halo killer, but ended up selling about 5000 copies? The one that is basically a cheap Half-Life 1.
Bungie owns, there weekly update is usually
funny, although I want them to release more info on Halo 3!! :( I love these modders begging to have another chance, wow, what retards. If they can apologize to every person, every person that has had their online experience ruined by these retards, then, perhaps.. until then, KEEP 'EM BANNED or 'bant, band or baned'

How does Pedro get away with this language? Dont we have moderators? But anyway...

Its funny to see the letters sent in. Finally, I see my feedback in action! Also...Dont know about you WARLYKE but cheating has been cut down by 3/4 (maybe even greater) of what it used to be. Stand-by now lags the person out and mods rarely happen anymore. Bridging for host is now the big thing and that gives only a little advantage.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK BUNGIE!!

Since Halo 2 has a huge fanbase and many many players online, it also has a larger cheating community than any other game, here goes:
Modding: Modified Xbox, Illegal, people got on Xbox live with a modded xbox and it enables for people to basically do anything, from Auto Aim to flying around at 500 mph.

Boosting: A group of friends, usually 6 or 3, split up and 3 are in one party and 3 are in the other, they match up in a game of matchmaking and they let there friends win, so those 3 friends get there rank up.

Bridging: Using a program on the PC, it enables you to be the host of the game and with the program, you can Block peoples IP's from the game which boots them out, so you win.

Standbying: Using the modem, you can ''stand-by'' and it lags everyone in the game. The game usually goes into a blue screen with the words ''Loading, please wait'' for everyone but the person who stand-byed, so everyone else is stood still while this stand-byer racks up kills.

Boosting: (You cant control who you get matched up with). A group goes into a game with players with very high rankings and ones with very low rankings. The low rankings are normally new accounts but with good players. They normally get a game against players with the average of the two. This isnt the real skill of the two teams though and...you know the deal...ownage. A lot of times the lower rankings are cheaters/modders.

Cage, I know you can't control who you go against, but your boosting description is wrong, mine is correct. Example: A group of 6 friends split into 2 partys, 3 in one party, 3 in another. One dude in eahc party have called each other or using MSN or something, and they let them know if thats them who have joined, when you see the yellow boxes.

360 has the option in the gammer rep section.

I say keep'm banned, they knew what they were doing and it ruins games for alot of people. If they posted the gammertags of the suspended ones it might be a better deterant to see how many people are booted for mods.

Cage read Unlike Me's post, and add:

Deleveling: When a team member commits suitside during a game of slayer, in an effort to lower their own rank.

Sleeping with Satan: Someone offers you a party invite, in which they use one of many cheats COMMON to HALO 2 to rank-you-up. In-return the cheater recevies a free 2-3 month XBOX LIVE membership card to use as an alais for more cheating.

Stealing Host: A network manipulation hack accomplished by multistep button selection before a match.

From Bungie:

"In addition, many of the original exploits and issues first noticed in Halo 2 have been fixed completely and/or the impact of such cheats have been reduced."

Updated: 06.10.05

Updated: 06.10.05

Updated: 06.10.05

...sigh...

By the way, Bungie does not consider super jumps and sticking cheats but "in-game glitches and exploits" that are a part of the game and not bannable offenses.

(Forgot to put this question in my last post). Wouldnt then the two teams rankings be too far apart after awhile? You could only do that for 3-4 games. With the other boosting (my boosting) it makes more sense.

How many of these children thought of themselves ALL tough and 733t. And now, they have been pwned like noone has been pwned.

What Bungie has to do now is track down forumn posts and what-not of these guys talking trash. Nothing I love more than people like this getting man handled. Love it, love it, love it.

Proof once again: 'script kiddies versus programmers' is a nonsensical statement much like 'toddlers versus Airborn Rangers'. The true problem is that most of these folks are teenagers (or twenty-somethings with the maturity of a teenager) and so no matter how many times you put them down, they just won't get it. Still fun putting them down though...

I personally don't like Halo 2 (H1 is fun because of no steep learning curve in multi). But some of those were hilarious. Especially the one who impersonated a lawyer.

I've only experienced cheating a few times on my PS2: Btlfield 2 MC gave me no problems. Once, someone juiced their stats on NFL Street, and that ticked me off. But the only real problems I have are in Ratchets 3 + 4. A guy climbed through a f-ing wall and rocketed my team for a good 10 minutes, untouchable. In R:DL, I have been standbyed many times. I have only cord-pulled once, and that was only to combat cord-pulling done on me. And I did it down by 3 with 1:30 left on a huge map. It didn't work; because of Guitar Hero and KH2, I haven't played an online game since March.

Bungie and Microsoft are geniuses.

Do you know why they ban user names and not IPs? So the losers will have to buy another year subscription to get back on the servers.

And many of them are dumb enough to do so.

Brilliant...

I've attempted that when I first got my 360, but have you seen it work with BC games?

"360 has the option in the gammer rep section."

I know but if most modders/ cheaters are using 2-3 month accounts, what is the point? You get me?

This is new to online gaming, which is why H2 needs boot capability like GRAW and so many others.

"I say keep'm banned.."

So do I.

My initial inclination is to take pity upon these people who may still be banned when Halo 3 arrives.

But after some short contemplation, I have no inkling of remorse. These are gamers that were banned from the Bungie servers, not merely suspended. This means that they really deserved this form of retribution. From what I've heard, Bungie takes a fair look at a reported cheater before deciding to take action. Getting banned means that they were doing the wrong things.

I don't whether it's fair or not for them to banned from Halo 3. Just like cheaters don't care whether their conduct is fair when they take advantage of honest players online.

Lock 'em up. Throw away the key. Justice is done.

I really love the (pardon my language) dumbass who tried to pretend he was a lawyer. Listen kids, if you're going to try and punk out Bungie that way, make sure everything is correct (both spelling and grammar). Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see Bungie fight back in court, and win. Rules are rules, and no matter how many different ways you look at it, what you did was still cheating.

I would love to see the look on the people's faces when they pop in Halo 3 and realize they're still banned. So sick of those cheaters who openly admit to it over the headset, and then beg Bungie to take them back. You're not cool. You're not 733t. You're just some preteen who got busted for something that's ignorant to begin with.

I'd also like to interview the very first person to get banned from Halo 3 multiplayer. I'd probably rub it in until he/she got mad. Then I'd probably say something along the lines of "Okay well I don't like your attitude. I'm going to go play Halo 3 multiplayer now.

Sure the boot option of BF:MC works fine (if you can get people to cooperate) but in Halo even if they are booted its now 3 on 4 and you cannot add people mid-match as in the other games. We all know that the lengths some people will go to cheat that you cannot stop it all. This is especialy true in the most popular online game. Bungie needs to keep banning them, make it public, and make it perminent. If you have hundreds of names on a "bannhammer" list itwill serve as a proactive deterent. Those preteens that know the will have to explain to there father why he needs another 60 bucks for a subscription may think twice before trying something.

Mors cheaters don't use their main accounts but the free ones available everytime you pick up a game store retred.

Without a more effective system Halo 3 will be doomed to the same situation. The recent news about people playing "backups" of their games on live is proff we'rw all in for more of the same.

When a PC game is broken by its delevlopers, and subsquently fix, it has the potential to become legendary (BF1942). When a flaw in a game/ system isn't PROPERLY address or flatout ignored in favore of the next itteration, well... Tribes 2 - Tribes Vengence)

Too little too late.

Does that mean MS won't have a monetarily sucessful game? No, but is that the true measure of scuccess? I ask Bungie and all developers, what standard do you hold your self to?

Mario, or Spyro?

Splinter Cell PT, or TR3?

For the record 3 pros vs 5 avg players is a far better game then 4 +1 Deleveler vs 2 noobs.

All of your comments are right just about but the thing is no matter how many people bungie bans cheating will NEVER stop, and countless people that i know personally have been banned without cheating, they were using mods but they were only skins like instead of purple banshees the heretic banshee or playing as the arbiter in mp i was banned like this too for having the heretic banshee, i had no cheating mods and was a level 23 legit. If bungie cared about their customers, supporters and fans youd think they would find a way to deteck what files have been manipulated like detecting if it was a texture being modified instead of say a jump height variable. in my personal opinion bungie really doesnt care about their fans all they care about is their money from selling millions of copies of h2 and h3. Halo2 will end up like Halo PC as soon as H3 comes out, cheating will run rampant through Halo2 and bungie will care too much about Halo3 to do anything about the problems with Halo2. i still play halo pc and i see people modding every day and bungie hasnt done anything to stop it because they only care about halo2 at this point. Also about why people cheat most of the time its not because they want a higher rank its more because when your immature ticking people off is alot of fun, when you were little didnt you enjoy annoying the heck out of friends and family and find their reactions funny? thats the real reason people cheat is simply because they think its fun. as far as cheating on XBC goes if you get a modder in your game simply kick him out or if the host is a modder simply leave the game and find another. i know some people may not agree with what ive said but everyone is entitled to their opinions
