Rumor: Wiimote with mic, VoIP support

Nintendo has hinted that there are still Wii functions that have yet to be revealed. One of the latest rumors suggests that one of these functions is built-in microphone support.

We know that the Wiimote houses a speaker, but what if the controller also contains a microphone? And if that should be the case, could the Wiimote also double as a VoIP-supported communication device? Sure. Throw in a voice-activated phonebook and we're talkin' universal functionality (i.e. an incentive for "non-gamers" to buy in).

Miyamoto (I think it was him, could have been some other Nintendo rep) said in an interview with EGM that they had originally thought about including a microphone, but then threw out the idea because it would have been too awkward to use.

Nintendo does have some pattents regarding microphone input that they have not used yet. Like the patent where spoken text would be converted to typing so whenever you see a 43 old warrior in an RPG, you wouldn't hear the 13 year old's voice playing him.

So a microphone is an option, but build in the wiimote? Dont think that verry usefull. Just think of playing metriod, aiming your microphone at enemys whil you trie speaking in it. Nah, thats not gonna happen. They might add a headset or something. But who knows, just another rumor on the huge pile of em.
