It looks pretty cool, I'm surprised more people haven't heard of it. There were a few next-gen gems at e3 this year not many people paid attention to with the heavy hitters like Gears of War & the Wiivolution making the rounds.

This game makes me wants an Xbox 360. I guess that's the point, huh? Microsoft would be wise to run an ad campaign on Irrational's behalf starting ASAP. More people need to be exposed to this game.

*On a side note, the environments shown in the screenshots don't look too far above and beyond the environments in the Red Steel shots. I'm starting to believe in Nintendo's ability to be a graphical competitor this fall.*

But this is about Bioshock, not Nintendo. So let me close by saying, "I've fallen in love with Bioshock and heceforth have stopped hating so much on Microsfot (though I still won't buy Windows Vista)."

Not to set myself up as flame bait or anything...but above the article you guys have filed it under Playstation 3 as well....?

I was under the impression that it was exclusive to PC and 360.

This game is going to be phenomenal. It will have all the elements of a great game: solid story, great engine, innovative/challenging gameplay, amazing graphics, etc.

Saying Red Steel almost looks this good is simply incorrect. I guess graphics and aesthetics is a subjective thing, but Unreal Engine 3 can't work in it's full glory on the Wii. The Wii, and I am not a hater since I am excited for it too, is not a very powerful machine nor is it supposed to be.

This game apparently set E3 on fire, so I wouldn't be drawing any comparisons between the graphical power of the 360 and Wii.

Gears of War, Mass Effect, Halo 3, and now BioShock? I am getting goosebumps just thinking about this game.

I became an Oblivion junkie, and found myself wondering why there weren't more games of this scope and ambition, leveraging the power of next-gen platforms.

Now, we have two credible developers working on Oblivion in Space (Mass Effect) and Oblivion Under the Sea (Bioshock). If either of these efforts is successful, I will be very happy.

Words can hardly describe how excited I am for this game. It sounds like its everything I would ever want from a spiritual successor to System Shock 2.

I'd personally never heard of this, or at least taken note of it until it started getting a lot of post-E3 comments. I'm still a little in the dark about it so I definately agree with cringer8 above... Microsoft should start getting the word out about this title.

copa, I'm a fellow Oblivion junkie now too, and it's really renewed my interest in RPGs, so I'm really looking forward to these other 360 RPGs on the horizon.

System Shock 2 was (is) one of my all time favourite PC FpSers.. Bioshock is looking like the business. The only choice is do I upgrade my PC to play it or buy a 360... hmmm

There was never a question of it being a 360 game, the question was if it will also come to the PS3.
Rumor mills have it on the PS3, and I was just wondering if anyone else could clarify.

BioShock looks amazing, but I wouldn't exacty call it "Oblivion under the sea". System Shock 2 is still one my favorite games on the PC, but it's a fundamentally different type of action-RPG than Bethesda's games. If SS2 is any indication, this will be more about atmosphere and character growth choices, don't expect a huge world or the go-anywhere, do-anything style of TES. Both games are great, just don't expect them to be very similar at all. The closest fantasy RPG to compare with is probably Arx Fatalis.

Thanks, clearskin. I'm embarassed to say I've never played System Shock 2, so I wasn't aware that the style is so different.

Oh me oh my... before and even during E3, I'm sorry to say, I hadn't heard of this game. Now that E3 is over, I checked 2-3 video game sites (IGN, Gamespot, something else?) that have Bioshock not only as E3 2006's 360 Game of the Year, but E3 2006's overall Game of the Year as well. Now it's looking like a must-have for me. Screens look sweet, still haven't seen any video at all though :(

A Nintendo super-fanboy calling Bioshock (the game many renowned video game sites called their E3 Game of the Year) "not so hot"?

I guess I have to pass on this crappy game then.

System Shock 2 is indeed one of the best FPS I ever played, and I sure hope this "sequel" lives up to its predecessor. It could very well happen, unless it gets "xboxed" like Deus Ex 2 or Thief 3.

Not sure on the PS3 thing, OPM did a story on it claiming it was coming out for the PS3, but then again they also did a story claiming that the PS3 would be the same price as a 360, also managed to pick this off of another board.

"Someone emailed 2k about it, and they said 360/PC only (none of that "we haven't made any announcements yet" crap) so it's safe to bet OPM is (yet again) full of crap."

Obviously 'someone' isn't exactly concrete either but even still I'm sure you would all like to know.

The graphics on the screen shots really didn't look that great. It was hardly what the 360 could pull off and no where near close to the graphics of Gears of War or Crysis. I'm also confused how this has a Hitler/WWII story to it but it seems to take place in like.. Atlantis.. And I can't stand any game that has scenery ALL the same. It looks like you'll just be running around an underwater palace... again, and again with just underwater palace scenery. This is why F.E.A.R. sucked so horribly is because it looked the same throughout the entire game.

This really doesn't look like it will be that great of a game.
