We're still not sure when this so-called 'Emergence Day' is ... but at least, now, we know what the Gears of War box is gonna look like: My Marcus, what a big gun you have! You wouldn't be compensating for any shortcomings, would you?

Out of every game on every system including Zelda, Mario, Metal Gear Solid and so forth this is the one I am looking most forward to. That could change with Halo 3 however right now Gears of War is just amazing.

I wish gears of war would come out on PS3 too, it looks stunning, graphically and gameplay wise. instead we get MGS4 which isnt even online - I may yet get a 360, Prey, KOTOR 3, Fable 2, Halo 3, Gears of war, Oblivion, GRAW, Bioshock, Splinter cell double agent, much better lienup than wat sony has 2 offer. if only i didnt have a minimum wage paid job, i wud be able to afford the greatness of both consoles (xbox 360 and wii)

I'm not feeling terribly owned, the she-male part was a very valid comment, that's a really common fad that probably should die a long time ago.
But anyway, other over-used stereotypes existing don't exactly make this cover any better. It's terribly generic.

I have a theory. Eday in the game is when the Locust Horde pop out of Seras core. Now maby they will do something somwhat poetic and label the PS3 as the Locust Horde and therefor Nov. 17 as Eday.
Of cource that would mean that the PS3 is a giant army and the 360 is little old Marcus, but in the end he still survives.

Killzone is so much better. The verdict is in.

And the Anime thing is true. Ive never understood that part of RPGs. As for plumbers, I like them. At least they have facial hair.

Sony will be laughing last when PS3 stomps 360 into the ground with its superior graphics and 50GB of content per game. We've all heard this story before last generation when Halo was supposed to let Xbox take the market. Hm, 100 mil PS2 vs 16 mil Xbox. Who won that round? Sony for the win. Get ready for a rerun.

Yes, and it is the featured weapon in GOW. Nothing like ripping a drone in half using a rusty chainsaw bayonet.

Not every game can be the next Katamari Damacy. If you only play "original concept" games, I'm assuming you buy maybe 1 game per year? As long as it's a good game, who cares?

A big futuristic armoured guy with a big gun, couldn't they have tried a little harder for the 360's supposedly next killer ap? How about just using that gorgeous painting from e3? Or just ANYTHING with the aliens!

Presently the 360 has a lineup of games I've never been so psyched about. I doubt its the likes of which to allow the 360 to actually beat Sony or Nintendo, but the console game is tough to get into at this point anyways... Slow but surely is what they are promising with their price point, Live support, and chunk of awsome games released about a year after the consoles debut.

Thats the great thing they did, releasing it early makes the development process SO much simpler, and to top off Sony's later release is the low quality of dev kits and lack of communication to developers (i.e. no rumble, ect.)

Gears of War, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Halo 3... OMG gonna buy my first console EVAR :)

Got a 360 and have some bones put away for PS3. GOW and KILLZONE will release the same week.........gawd, the fireworks!!! Oh, mamma!!

What are you talking about? The only "original concept" games to come out of the ENTIRE LAST GENERATION were what? Katamari Damacy, Super Monkey ball, Steel Battalion, and maybe a couple others? I think you missed my point.

I didn't know people are still counting on Killzone to be a blockbuster game. After it's brief publicity stunt of a CG movie at E3 2005, and then it's no show at E3 2006...it's been over a year since we saw any progress on Killzone.

I find it shocking that people can say an unreleased game is better than another unreleased game.

yes but does anyone know if the enemy actually splits in two pieces or is it just a s**t load of blood that comes out but nothing cuts in half. i have not seen evidence of this and it doesnt make the chainsaw seem believable if u cant cut any body parts off.

I would say one of those people is you. This game is a platformer. Not a typical platformer. Instead of using objects to stand on to fight gravity, you have to use objects as cover to protect yourself from the stuff being hurled at you. I know this is a different idea and therefore somewhat difficult to grasp. I also realize since it does have a man with a gun (a gun with sharp metal teeth no less) it is almost impossible for you to view it as what it is and not what you want it to be because new ideas that don't fit under your idea of what news ideas should be scare you. The beauty of new things is that they can be different in different ways. Waving your arms around is not the only way to be different.

Last time both consoles were the same price. The box is not bad but they probably could have done better. They could have put that one sign (the one with skull and the gear around it) painted on a wall with a bunch a chips broken out from bullets. I bet it would kill the ps3 if they release this on the same day as the ps3. I just love the idea of puting a chainsaw on a gun. Maybe the guys with guns and the plumers can team up and kill the she-males. Just give the plumers a pipe or something. lol

I like the gun on the cover with the chainsaw and all, but I would have liked to see some sick baddies on there. There's still time for change.

And why is the rating RP? I mean, I know ESRB hasn't rated it yet, but cmon, it's gonna be M. They should have just put that on the cover so it could actually be 100% the final look.

For all you fanboys that say the game is generic, it isn't. Original Concepts these days are near-impossible to come by. Watching the gameplay, it looks like this game tries something new with the whole cover concept, while pumping it full of action.

I value design, not images. I don't even like the 360. But this game looks like an originally refined idea...whatever that might mean.

videogaming still has a long way to do in packaging design. the flashy and cheap comic book-ish product art in video game print ads/game boxes needs to grow up, wisen up a bit--look to graphic design and (some) movie poster art for better touchstones.

NAMCO beat the cover-and-shoot concept into the ground with kill.switch.

Good observation 45. GoW looks eerily similar to Killswitch. A little too similar...
