Japanese sales charts, May 15-21: .hack on top
This week a new release has sped straight to the top of the chart -- .hack//GU Vol 1: Saitan (Rebirth in the west) dominates the charts with over 90,000 sales. There are two forthcoming sequels in this branch of the popular .hack franchise, though we have to wonder if Bandai will release a corresponding tie-in MMO.1. .hack//GU Vol 1: Saitan [PS2]

Someone has seriously got to investigate Brain Training in Japan. It's been in the Top 10 for way to long than any game should.

Can't wait for .hack//G.U. Stateside. The first series was fantastic - my only complaint was that each volume was too short (could have been on two discs instead of four). Good enough that FF12 looks like it *ahem* borrowed a bit from the series. This one looks to be even better.

Sony could be in serious trouble if that dominance is again shown with the Wii over the PS3

I'd love to see a .hack MMO be made, but it wouldn't really be the same unless it was played virtual reality-style, like the players do in the anime/manga.
Also, after seeing all the problems in the game, I'd be a bit worried about plugging in, heh.

Does that surprise you GamerG? There is almost never a PSP title in the top 10 list. It's only happened a handfull of times and it never seems to last longer than a week each time.

There already is a .hack MMO, it's called .hack//FRAGMENT, and it came out in Japan late last year, I believe. I am still waiting to see if it comes out in America or not. I had heard that it would, however, I also heard rumors that it was in beta testing hell. The game is for PS2, and I heard it doesn't need a the hard drive, either, since all the information is stored on the server side.

At least Tetris, Mario Kart, and Pokemon ranger are there to represent actual games. The rest is just basically software for the Nintendo DS.. which is starting to get a little sad in my personal opinion but oh well I suppose that will be the same trend of Wii dominates
