Resident Evil 4, Nintendogs win pencils!

The D&AD awards -- which honor great design and advertising -- have announced the winners for 2006: a zombie romp and a puppy simulator. In their first ever video games category, Resident Evil 4 and Nintendogs each received a yellow pencil (the equivalent of a silver award; a black pencil is gold). Other nominees this year included God of War and Call of Duty 2.

As GamesIndustry.biz points out, although this is the first year with a gaming category, these are not the first games to be considered: last year, Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas took home a award for art direction.
