But...how will I know this is for the DS if they change the name? How the hell much does Nintendo expect of us?! Oh, damn you to hell! *sob*

Why isn't Rare developing this? It's not like they're forbidden to touch the DS like they were the Gamecube.

Why would Rare develop this game? All they ever developed in the SF universe is Adventures. The only developer other than Nintendo to develop a SF game is Namco.

Star Fox Adventures was originally going to be an original game, but Nintendo suggested that Rare use the Star Fox characters.

Dropping the DS monkiker is probably a good move. People are now familiar enough with the system to know, and Nintendo, in the past, has been known to beat the "this game goes with this system" drum a little longer than is necessary. 64... "super"... etc etc. For some reason I don't see them abusing the Wii name however... Madden Wii and Mario Wii still have a ways to go before they sound mainstream, at least with this gamer.

B/c maybe they are a second party company for one of Nintendo's competitors...just a thought...

To J B Cougar. You are right about Nintendo's naming. They did overuse the Super, 64, and more recently the DS. I never saw Super Mario Gamecube. Also, they would not release games suchas Mario Wii because there would be headlines saying "Mario has a Wii", "Mario is on the Wii" etc...
I am happy they are finally thinking of newer ways to name a game.

So is this game going to use the Mic to give commands then, because that'd be cool. And I sort of hope its touch screen control for extra precision,

Haha nah, at least they didn't name it "New Star Fox"

And I was hoping Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time would be ported to the DS and called "Prince of Persia: Daylight Savings".

I hope third parties join in, too. I'm sort of sick of every third party title having some subtitle that begins with the initials "DS." From Castlevania to Resident Evil, they all have the DS thing going on. It's time to return to giving games names that make sense, rather than finding a cheesy way to make the title fit with the DS theme.

Just like not every DS title needs to have a touch screen element. Sometimes, it's OK to *not* use all the features of a system on every game.

I waited in two long-ass DS lines at E3; one for New Mario Bros. and one for Phanton Hourglass. I couldn't take waiting in line for this title (though I wanted to). So, I don't know much about it, but I really want to own it. Dogfighting with the stylus could be sweet. Plus the reviews reference the N64 version which is the only subsequent installment I considered a true "Star Fox" title.

As for video game naming "making sense," that's a pretty weak statement considering plenty of video game titles don't necessarily "make sense."

I think "Deadly Silence" could work if the plot is centered around some sort of cover-up. Beats me. I'm just glad not to see a bunch of fart jokes posted (the same caliber of humor as the Wii jokes above; "Mario has a Wii"? How would that even make sense as a statement?) I prefer intelligent puns, if any at all. Such as "Your Wii's are coming!" or "Laura Croft Could be on Your Wii!"

I haven't even thought about the DS naming scheme, so it doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me

If the game is good, I'll play it.

Could be called "Turd Runner" for all I care

Star Fox: Turd Runner

Uhhh... No. Image does count. I don't want to have to tell people I'm playing "Turd Runner" when they ask what's in my DS.

Ewww.

Did anyone see how BAD (like REALLY BAD) the explosions look in this game? At E3 they were just gigantic pixelly bitmaps. They looked extremely out of place in the game and completely ruined the cohesion of the experience. I hope they fix them, because when the whole point of a game if blowing things up the explosions can't look like that game from the 32X... er, Sega Genesis.

DAMN IT I wish Sega still have a console out. Damn it.

@sabre

Rare are bringing Diddy Kong racing to the DS bud.

On topic. Great...another filler. Ten years for a true sequel was too long a wait for Mario galaxy Nintendo, do NOT let us wait much longer for a true sequel to the brilliant Lylat wars/Starfox 64 please.

Ugh. About damn time.

Adventures sucked, Assault was par at least... Yeah, ten years for a sequel is... maybe a little too long. Just maybe. Let's hope to GOD this one is worth the time spent waiting.

It better be. Or I'm killin' someone- probably unrelated to the matter at hand, as well. YOU HEAR THAT NINTENDO!? YOU MAY CAUSE INNOCENT DEATHS

WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO ABOUT IT

Yeah, I was about to say, DKR DS.

#3: You're right. I thought 64 was Rare-developed...don't know where I got that idea.

But then, why won't Nintendo develop the games? Even if not Nintendo, Rare did an excellent job on Adventures - including the space combat bits. Those Arwings looked great. Those GC graphics were Kameo-calibur.

That may have been in development before MS bought RARE and could have been a stipulation in the purchase of RARE from Nintendo.
