The seemingly endless delays on HL2:E1 made me stop following news of its progress - is it out this week for reals this time?
I'll have to grab it as soon as I'm paid, maybe.
pennywise969 @ May 29th 2006 12:11PM
I wish my computer would run Half Life 2. Any news on if this will ever be released for xbox or 360?
John @ May 29th 2006 12:21PM
I'd like to play HL2:E1. But I don't know exactly when this dream came true :)
masterwerk @ May 29th 2006 12:23PM
HL2:E1 is preloaded on steam, so i'm assuming it's ready to roll out.
Tesla @ May 29th 2006 12:24PM
HL2:EP1 already preloaded and prebought. Just waiting to unlock, like HL2. Anyone who tries to download on launch day is a sucker.
Halflife is one of the few I will actually buy episodic content. Unfortunately, I fear though this is a growing trend for many other games....*sign*
Tesla @ May 29th 2006 12:32PM
Meant *sigh*....I cannot type.

Nothing interesting this week for me. I can't see why everyone seems to like Half-Life. The only fun part in ALL of HL is playing with the Gravity Gun in HL2, and even that gets boring after a short while. So, why all the excitement?
Lutraphobic @ May 29th 2006 12:47PM
Josh: Because it's a really solid game, with a fun story.
Not Impressed (Dmitri) @ May 29th 2006 1:09PM
Josh... Go play Halo 2... Valve doesn't need your negativity...
Josh @ May 29th 2006 1:25PM
Why should I play Halo 2 when I can play Counter Strike: Source, Battlefield 2, or Call of Duty? I don't understand why you think that because I don't like your precious HL that I'm a console fanboy. Also, Steam screwed up my computer, so I am negative towards it and Valve already.
Lutraphobic, I understand the story may be good for its genre, but it is not a genre of which I am a fan. To me, the whole game just seems like another generic FPS.

I hope they don't release it for the Xbox, HL2 on the xbox was horrible. Sure it had a good game packed in there. But with the horrible framerate I really can't consider them releasing this again for it.

As far as I'm concerned, Blood Money and HL2E1 make for a more than decent week.
AndrewNeo @ May 29th 2006 2:28PM
#1. What are you talking about? EP1 has never been delayed. When the first date official release date of June 1st was given, they're still going to release it June 1st.
BPM? @ May 29th 2006 5:09PM
Hmm... I was looking forward to Scurge: Hive when it was supposed to be released LOOOOONG ago... Maybe I'll check out the DS version...
GodlyAtheist @ May 29th 2006 6:53PM
Another Half-life? W t f. Who's supporting these morons, this first game sucked and it's been that way ever since. Let it die people, let it die.
BennoWii @ May 29th 2006 8:24PM
@ GodlyAthiest:
Yeah, let's pull the plug on Valve's flagship series, especially now when it's more popular than ever. The first Half-Life is one of the greatest games ever, and the second is on par with that, maybe even better (but that's a matter of opinion, and it's quite ironic I point that out now, because basically all of this is opinion - be it popular as it is). Valve is doing great things in the industry - Steam, while having a bad launch, is one useful little program. Installing the game and having it ready weeks before release - that's something. Online distribution is something. It's where video game sales are heading - give a console an HDD and suddenly you can download games to your console. And now there's episodic content - for these times when players are always waiting for the sequel, it can be developed much faster, and include incremental experimental upgrades to the original game.
In brief, the first Half-Life was a huge success because it at the time its graphics were superb, the story was intriguing, and the overall atmosphere was top-notch. The second improved in nearly every way, and this new episode promises lots of new ideas and concepts to add to Half-Life's charm and appeal, with its online distribution making it more accessible than ever to everyone.

Holy cow, is Stacked finally coming out? I'm curious to see if they really pulled off poker AI worth anything, as the game has been hyped six ways to Tuesday (and delayed just as much).
pennywise969 @ May 30th 2006 11:51AM
#11, I would rather play the game on a console w/ a poor framerate than not be able to play it at all.
