A video tour of the Xbox Live Spring update
According to Microsoft, the long anticipated Dashboard upgrade should be coming "in about a week," and that was five days ago! So even though it's almost here, we can't leave good enough alone.
They gave us an audio-guided tour of some screenshots but if you want to get the full spring update experience, check out GameVideos' luxe video-tour. Join tour-guides Luke Smith and Mark MacDonald for a leisurely stroll through such memorable sights as: background downloading, new media controls, persistent custom audio playback, and more!
Video is embedded after the break, but be warned ... it autoplays!
[Thanks SickNic]

This wait is killing me... but it will be well worth my patience!

Gamevideos.com should take note of one particular "Live" update; letting you fast forward and rewind videos :)
Sony is going to rip off so many of these features. It's practically a guarantee. After their E3 press conference, nothing would surprise me (except a public apology for their ineptitudes).
The dashboard is looking more and more "perfect." If there's anything else about it you don't like, I'd suggest calling MS early and often.

Cool... Still looks a little clunky around the 'play downloads' area, but it's getting better. I like the boot to dashboard, and I'm strangely into that camera they have coming out.

Can anyone tell me if it still costs 60 euros a year to play co-op/multiplayer?
I paid for one year's worth on my XBox1, but I didn't want to pay to renew it.

cant wait, taking forever....
PSP started this whole updates that add great functionality..... now good to see 360 doing same great things...
maybe they'll add web browser in the fall update, cause psp has it so will ps3, and wii will have browser so no doubt 360 will add it in future....

@cringer8, they did mention that near the end of the video. Joystiq...it's Luke Smith, not Luke Wilson.
[sarcasm]Nice choice with DVD's, btw.[/sarcasm]
Can't wait for the update. It's cool that MS can add little tweaks in response to our complaints and comments.

An easy boot to dash is a great feature, one that really should have been in the original software.
FYI: If you were in the first batch of consoles and got one of those "stubby" remotes, then you can boot to dash already. Just press the media center button on the stubster.

Yawn...It's just Microsoft to issue patch after patch.

brad77: thanks! Just watched Royal Tenenbaums; my brain is a simple, simple machine.

Xbox 360 OS (service pack 2)... looks nice.

It's not a patch. They're adding things, not fixing them.
cringer8 @ May 30th 2006 1:21PM
@brad
See, if I was able to fast-forward, I would have known that :) I'm such an ADD case.
que @ May 30th 2006 2:03PM
whats different about the media controls? they look the same to me.
Darth Pixel @ May 30th 2006 9:59PM
Much ado about nothing.
Background downloading is the meat. The rest is fluff.
The UI is still laggy. When you leave a game to display the dashboard, I swear one can see the OS paint the left blade. The top part is fully painted before the bottom part starts sliding over. Classic Microsoft performance.
