I just called my local Target and they said very clearly, "The DS will be out on June 11th". I'm in the Washington, DC area in Northern Virginia. Boo for me.

My local Walmart has them on display in their store but they refuse to sell any until 6-11.

Nintendo will could lose some sales for people who haven't decided which portable to buy yet. Makes no sense to have the systems sitting on the sales floor for the better part of 2 weeks.

I think you mean a FRAPPR map, not a FLICKR map...

And I haven't seen any yet... but I've only checked one Target so far (and they had NO DS models at all!)

On display in the case with a price tag in Wal-Mart in Camden, DE. Rang up as "sale not allowed." Called manager to explain and was dealt with very rudely (even though I was very nice and not demanding in the least). Left the department empty-handed and went straight to the store manager on duty. Filed a written complaint against the rude department manager. That made me feel better, but I still didn't get a DS Lite :(

Just got back from Target in Tuscaloosa, Al with my new Lite in hand. No problem at all. The electronics guy sold it to me right then and there. Woosh! Of course, I had to go by my place of work (Toys R Us) to show it off. mwhahaha

Haha, I'm sorry some of you are having issues, it was funny going to EB after buying it using my DS lite reserve credit to buy new mario bros. The guy asked if I gave up and I told him about it, he replied "well I know where I'm going for my break."

Well, picked mine up today, 1st of June. If I were petty then I'd probably be mad that they started selling them in the States before the official date, but it's no biggie, have fun when you get one I guess!

Over here in Aus, the Lite came with a demo for Brain Training, and if you buy from K-Mart then you get a carry case. I got mine from EB and got no case, but they gave me 5 plastic cart cases for pre-ordering.

Is the demo pack in happening in the US also?

So far, I'm liking it... though I have to get used to the size and different feel of the buttons, they're nice, but drifting and powerdrifting feels a bit harder to do in Mario Kart.

And dude. The screens are bright as! I switched it on and it was bright, then I found out there was an even brighter setting!

The yellows kind of look a bit weird... like, the little ! triangle when you first boot up, it seems a bit more orange on the Phat. I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Sears
5601 Santa Monica Blvd (West of Western), Los Angeles, CA

I ordered mine online, got a confirmaton in 10 minutes, went there and picked up mine in 2 and a half minutes :-) The ppl there are really polite too :-)

If u order online like me, make sure u don;t waste time going into the store. Just go to the Merchandise Pickup, which is in the back next to Watch Repair :-)

I placed a sears.com order around noon today (06/01/06), got my confirmation email shortly after and got there around 8PM. After about 15 minutes of waiting, I went straight to the merchandise pick up, one of the guys there says "We have'em somewhere and just have to get one, be right out". So I'm thinking so far so good, this might go smoothly. A few minutes later the shipping manager (or just the head shipping guy working at the time) comes out and says "Come with me, sorry but it seems we have a problem" We walk over to games/electronics and I'm told an offical email from Nintendo was sent to sears to pull all DS Lites and to send them back. That an offical recall was made, the units were defective, no more ds lites can be sold and the Lites were in the RTV dock. So I pointed out that there is no need to sell me a DS lite, I already bought one and here's the offical email saying to pick it up. I was as nice as I could contain myself to be and convinced the sales chick that if it's defective, I'll deal with it with nintendo (I knew it was just the sales date). She said if the shipping guy could get one that she had nothing to do with it. After a few more trips from the pickup to the game dept, and me waiting for nearly 20 minutes, the shipping guy comes out with one and I float back to my car....

Interesting that they are told to recall them and that the units are defective. At first thought, I thought "it's easier to recall them than tell sears not to sell'em" but then realized they locked the registers down to sell them. So that doesn't make sense as to why sears has to send their stock back to nintendo and yet target and walmart etc can leave'em on display but not sell'em.

I wonder why sears got this "offical email from Nintendo stating a recall" yet it seems no one else is getting that from other stores.

BTW: DS Lite is *insert expletive adjective here* sweet....
