I thought I was doing so well. Got my confirmation email, slipped out of the office, even found the merchandise pickup with little trouble. Then I got shot down by the stockboy! :(

Well, at least he said he "put one aside for me", so at least I won't end up on a waiting list...

And to add to the rumor mill, he said he couldn't give it to me until tuesday. I'm assuming he just got the date wrong.

ATTN NEW JERSEY DS-LITE SEEKERS:

I went to Sears.com and placed a pickup order for the DS Lite. I ordered one for pickup from the Watchung, NJ store location. [I believe the Livingston, NJ location also had Lite's available for pickup.] I received my confirmation email within 10 minutes. I'm running out now to grab my DS Lite. I'll post again once I either have it or have issues. Go to sears.com NOW!!

Meh. It was a no go. They hadn't even received their shipment yet. All I did was find a hole in their web/brick & mortar supply chain.

Sears.com was showing stock at the Overlake Sears in Bellevue, WA, I placed an order, got a "Order ready for pickup" email. Went down, waited for the guy to come bring me my DS and he came out said they couldn't find it. A woman came out a couple minutes later and apologized that the system let me place the order, but the unit won't be available until the 11th. I tried to play the angry customer, but they wouldn't budge.

Oh well...worth a shot. They did call me back and said I could go pick one up when they come in. Not sure if they'll give me preference, but I they did say I was order #2.

I should also add I ordered a little before 9AM PST this morning, but now upon getting back home, the status on Sears.com has changed from "In Stock (pending email confirmation" to "In Store in 13-15 days"

update on sears in omaha, ne. got a call from them about an hour after placing the order online. they told me that there is a "vendor problem" with the DS lites, and they can't sell them.

they tried to sell me a blue DS with animal crossing instead.

looks like there's no hope at all in omaha.

I ordered mine from Sears.com at around 730am this morning and received my "ready to pick up" email at around 1030. I got the DS lite at the Orlando, FL store... no questions asked. Now on their site it says "In store in 10-12 days" so I got lucky. However, if you're in the area the Sears on OBT and the one near the Altamonte Mall both show "In stock".

Ehhh...cbb. I dont see what all the fuss is about. I think the DS is pretty lame and it looks ultra cheap. The PSP is a lot better.

The damn internet ruined it for the rest of us! Damn you internet! Target and those other guys got wind of what was going on thanks to all the internet chatter and they have launched their counter-assault against us. Damn you internet and your real time breaking news!

i ordered one from sears last night and i got an email this morning cancelling my order saying "out of stock"...those bitches..so then I went to the next sears location and ordered it again, but this time, I went there and picked it up no problem!! Thanks Sears! I picked it up from the merchandise pick up in the back and avoided the whole retail scene. Then I went into the store to check it out and there was none in the display. I wonder what happened. Anyways, I live in Southern California...anyone else from SoCal get a ds lite yet?

Down here in Tampa, FL the Wal-Mart near my apartment has them. I did go there.

I did ask the clerk for one.

I did hold one in my hands as I waited in the checkout line.

I did feel disappointment as the words "Sale Not Allowed" flashed across the screen as the clerk scanned it.

I checked at my local Sears to see if they had any on the floor; no luck, but I wasn't bothered enough to ask a salesperson if they had them in stock.

BOSTON METRO RESIDENTS

I did the in-store pickup for the Sears in Tewksbury on 10 Main St. I ordered around noon today and just picked it up around 5:00pm after work. I had no trouble at all. I have no idea how many they have left in stock, or if it will work for you, but just wanted to let you guys know that I was able to do the in-store pickup at this Sears location.

I don't get it! The Sears guy said that if his computer shows that there was a recall, then pretty much all the Sears stores across the US would show the same message!!!

Anyways, good for you guys! Looks like down South, we guys haveta wait for another 10 days.

One peculiar thing though is the availability date given to me by Walmart. Usually, the people there have no idea what they are talking about so i am going to take this with a pinch of salt. I was told that the Lite would be available on 6th! Anyone else given the same message?

My experience in Austin, Tx:

Ordered online from sears.com this afternoon, got the confirmation email. Went to pick it up tonight (Hancock Center) and was denied. They told me there was a recall and they couldn't sell it to me, and refunded the purchase back onto my credit card. Guess I have to wait until the 11th.

I also happened to be in the I35 Target last night, and they didn't have it on display. I didn't ask about it.

I ordered mine yesterday from sears.com for pickup at the Sears on OBT (Orlando, FL). When I got there to pick it up at about 2:00 yesterday, they said it had been recalled & they couldn't sell it. So I went up to the electronics section and asked a sales clerk if they had any in stock & he said no, and when I asked him when they expected to get them in & he said (in a real pissed-off sounding tone) he had no idea & that he's had people coming in all day asking about it. I would've given him shit for being such a dick about it, but then I realized that if I had to deal with fanboys all day, the confusion of whether to sell or not sell & the possibly being reprimanded for breaking the street date - I probably would've acted worse than he did (which is why I don't work in customer service). So I just thanked him & left and decided to just wait until next weekend & buy it at Best Buy so I can get reward points.

My friend and I went out after 5pm, but apparently Nintendo got wise to the fact they were releasing early and sent out hate mail to all the target and wal-mart stores. One manager at Target (for which I had almost convinced) brought me the e-mail that stated that any store who sold a DS lite prior to the June 11 Release date would be fined $300 per system sold prior to June 11. Kinda steep seeing as it is a $130 machine.
the E-mail was timestamped at 3:32 PM so had we gotten there 2 hours earlier, I'd have had one....

oh well, guess I'll just have to wait

Get this...I go to Walmart (which is quite a drive from my place) and i storm straight to the Games section and Lo and Behold...5 Nintendo DS Lites!!! Well, the smile on my face was too sneaky, something that even a 2 yr old kid could figure out as canniving snd scheming!!! Anyhoo, i ask the salesman to get one out of for me and i rush him to have it billed. He scans the device for billing and guess what comes up....."Do not sell item"!!!! I almost gave him a 20 to slip me the devivce for cash :D

The store manager came and took it to another counter and the same messages showed up there too. Well, he didn't know which date the device was to be sold, so he asked me to check in on Monday again....which i obviously will...

Here's hoping i can get my hands on one on the 6th which according to a few Walmart stores is the Big Day!

Well I can let everyone know that the Joliet, IL area Targets have not even received them yet. I am the electronics dept. manager and I am not even expecting delivery until the 8th. I can say that Target's managing of streetdated video games is poor at best. I have always errored on the side of caution, but the procedures for even looking up the street dates are poorly documented at best and non-existant at worst. I received no training on the matter, I just happen to live outside of Target's retarded little world.

For all who are getting them early, suck em up. I hope Target gets fined a shitload for breaking street date and learns their lesson.

Later Kids

No Luck here in Indianapolis

I've tried two Targets, K-mart, Meijers, and BestBuy.

The Targets shelves seemed to be cleaned off of any DS hardware not even the old models. There wasn't a clerk in site by the game department, so on to K-mart. When I got there I didn't see any DS hardware either, so a crap load of Gameboy Advance, and there was a clerk there restocking games. I asked about the DS Lite, he said they have them in stock but they aren't allowed to sell them to the 11th. RATS! On to Meijers, when I got there no DS Lite in their department either, not even an poster ad or something, just the old big DS. I didn't bother to ask the nearby clerk about it. Last I drove over to BestBuy, and not to my suprise I didn't see a DS Lite in there game isles. A clerk saw me and asked if I needed anything, and I was like yeah if you can sell me one of those DS Lites. He told me that they haven't gotten them yet and would be getting a shipment on the 7th, but they're not allowed to sell them till the 11th of June. I mentioned how I heard of stores selling the DS Lite early, and he said he heard about it too and that it was a few Walmarts and Targets selling the DS early and that they were reported, and that there could be some possible lawsuits filed against them by Nintendo. So there you have it folks, no Nintendo DS Lite in the Avon/West Indianapolis area. :(

Not until the 11th at least.

What people don't realize is retain chains can put out anything to "Show it off" however they have a POS )point of sale) system that as it rings through the register it Locates what the item is. For instance Halo2 dropped w/ a note attached to the top "Do not sell untill 11.9.2004 & upcoming Final Destination 3 tomarrow. If one of these titles leaked onto the sales the register would prompt a "cannot allow Sale" message in order to stay within compliance. The retain chain does not have to sell the item just cause it's visable they have whats called right to sell. Meaning they can refuse business if it will hurt them. So anyone wanting a PS3 / Wii Should really cut they're hopes of obtaining one early. Sorry
