"I'm sorry but there IS a connection between Fox News corporation (which includes the cable channel) and this article. Merely by allowing this kind of crap to be written under their name, Fox News corporation has a degree of responsibility for it, even if it isn't directly controlling its creation."

You are just wrong. Fox News Channel--SPECIFICALLY the cable channel--deserves criticism for its bogus claims of being fair and balanced. But just because it and the affiliates' news divisions are owned by the same parent company does not make the local affiliates guilty of the cable channel's crookedness by association. The affiliates are essentially autonomous in their decisions on what and how to report, regardless of ownership by a parent company.

Shock horror suprise. Years ago we got our porn on video tapes and magazines.......now there are alternative forms of media to view and retrieve porn. Any educated half-wit already knows this and has for quite a while now.

Im sure next year it will be sensationally reported that kids can get fake ids from the 'net.

Psp plays porn.....O Rly?

Ugh,

Conrad, I never disputed that they were both owned by the same parent company (see comment 15). If you go back and read my comments, you'll see this.

What I'm asserting is that they are editorially independent from one another. Each is run by its own people and makes its own decisions. Pretty much my whole quibble was with you calling Fox 9 an investigative spin-off of Fox News. Fox 9 is a TV channel. They air the Simpsons and other Fox programming. They have their own, independently produced news show that's got nothing to do with the cable news network other than having the same parent company. They're no more a spin-off of Fox News than the 20th Century Fox movie studio.

What's more, your correction still isn't quite right. They're a Fox affiliate. Not a Fox News affiliate.

So hold it. Fox consideres local affiliates seperate from the Fox News branch however you decided that they are full of it and that since you have a bias against Fox News that all Fox stations are part of them since one broadcasted something you (and I would agree that it is) idiotic? Wow, talk about "fair" at all here. Sad. Really. Whoever made the report for Fox 9 was not thinking. Fox News however has nothing to do with it.

Good for Fox. Considering porn was an actual strategy of Sony in Japan to increase use of the PSP (and especially UMD), I think this is an important expose. It may not go far enough... Of course, personal responsibility is also an important consideration.

This reminds me of another news report targeting the Nintendo DS...saying child stalkers were using the wireless capabilities to lure children anonymously "over the Internet." That article was partially correct, though PictoChat only currently works at close range.

Many parents need to be reminded of the dangers good technology presents to those they love and are responsible for.

These are the same kinds of reporters that, after the Columbine Massacre, declared that the two boys involved were goths, and that goth was a cult of Satan worshippers who hate the world and wish to harm everybody...

Of course, it turns out these boys were reluctant Christians, not at all goth (just outcast wannabe preppies in a town full of rich people) and that their killing spree had more to do with the way their Christian peers teased them and tortured them in school, and the way their parents ignored them, than any "Trenchcoat Mafia" cult or game of DOOM.

News like this is not news. It's sensationalism.

This is just like everyone blaming the video game doom for causing The shooting at colombine. Here's another good one Dr Dre and Snoop Dog make me kill people and look at porn. Give me a break. It's called parents. If people would spend some damn time being parents to there kids instead of being involved with everything else, then we wouldn't see these problems. If my kid was using his psp for porn it would become my psp simple as that and then this kind of crap wouldn't even be a story

Give it up Conrad. You're wrong. But your anti-Fox News agenda is keeping you blind. You might as well be blaming MSNBC for a bug in Internet Explorer. They are a Fox Broadcasting affiliate. Fox News is PART of Fox Broadcasting, but they are NOT the Fox TV Network. Just like Fox News does not control the 20th Century Fox movie studios. Nor did CNN control AOL. Get over it.

Ok I was there.... I watched... I know the kid from it...
It ran After the Family Guy season finale on a faily slow news day (a rollercoaster crashed but it was like lame) the spots made it sound like the psp automaticly put porn on itself... then forced your kids to watch it. The peice was even worse. reminds me of the "Nintendo DS is a tool for internet preditors to get your kids info" cause some girl in PA got harassed in pictochat which doesnt even go over the internet... parents like to beleive that their kid is a perfect little angel and it MUSN'T be their fault... so they blame someone else... its the scapegoat mentality and it happens all the time... then someone calls a tip line... the local news gets bad info... uses that info to get more skewed good info/bad info... and reports it not knowing whats going on... and for the record... my ds web browser will be used for porn.

Wow, thats Fox News for you. You can't entirely blame them though, all News channels try to blame video games for something. Usually it is the violence that is reported on (yes, that's it, little Jimmy went psycho and killed his family because Grand Theft Auto told him to, not because he was seriously screwed up in the head).

I suppose the report didn't mention that you could also do this with IPods and any other portable device that can display photos... yeah, I didn't think they did.

Anyone that watches Fox News kinda scares me. They just have those kinds of eyes that sort of just glaze over you, like they aren't really there. Or like they are hypnotized or something. Scarey, scarey people.

talk about stupid.

honestly, its not the psp's fault, its the kids fault.

if you dont want your kid doing stuff like that then raise a good kid that doesnt do that. but dont blame the technology.

its just like myspace and how people think its evil because little girls are being raped.

first off, you arent even supposed to have a myspace account unless you are 16.

second off, your profile is default set to private and nobody can find out info about you unless you allow them to do it.

third, these girls are going out looking for sex, and somehow that is myspace's fault?

anybody dumb enough to meet up with some body they met online, and then see them outside of a public place at that DESERVES to be raped.

dont blame the technology, blame the people who abuse it.

"5. Let me just say right now that when the browser comes out for DS stateside, I am using it for porn. And I blame Nintendo."

short and to the point!! well done!!

Wow, what a bunch of sandy vaginas at this message board.

Even if the parent company has nothing to do with the local affiliate it's funny enough via irony. Unless, of course, you sit at home and get off to Bill O'Reilly interrupting people every night, then I guess it's not as funny, but still humorous as a gamer I would assume. And if it's not funny as a gamer then you're not a gamer.

Hey everyone. I live in Minneapolis, just finished college there. Fox 9 is fricken crazy here. Every night they publish some story about how drugs, cigarettes, alchohol, porn, video games, cartoons, fake ID's, not going to church enough, too much maturbation, beastiality, socialism, communism, questioning government/god, not conforming, listening to music other than country music, questioning the information force fed to you through media/school/politics, playing paintball, playing poker, not eating Wheaties, etc. is destroying America's youth, economy, innocence, etc.

Don't take anything they put out too seriously. The crazy thing is that they just go over the top with the stuff. The background music, the voices, the transitions, it is absolutely freaking nutz. And their facts are always as bent, slanted, twisted, and just plain incorrect as you can get.

Their most infamous recent story was they stalked several U of M hockey players and found out they were drinking in a bar. And, wait for it, one of them was 20 years old.

One night, they had a tagline that, I shizt you not, said, "College students drinking excessively...we have the story, tonight on Fox 9." I mean, omgwtf is wrong with these people. Try to imagine that tagline being spoken with the most solemn, sincere voice with horror music in the background. This goes on EVERY NIGHT.

And yes, Fox News and Fox 9 Minneapolis are completely different.

Excuse the rant, just had to get it off my chest.

"Are you trying to imply liberal bias in a gaming blog?"

We all know that reality has a liberal bias.

"And its ok, people who whine about fox news and talk radio have been feelin sad since their pals the Soviets lost control over in Russia, so give them a break."

There we go, associating the liberals to the communists again. We have to go back.... back to the future!

I wouldn't expect Anything that has the name Fox attached to it to have any investigative journalism. Just lots and lots of propaganda.

I think the concern here (and keep in mind I hate censorship) is that while the kid who jacked porn into his psp knows what he's getting into, the little 3rd grader at the park bench behind him will be "scarred for life". These people are experts at over-reacting. Teens getting their hands on porn isn't the worst thing. In fact I think they should be allowed to buy it at 13 (when they need it) and not... when the hell is the "legal" age anyway. I know I can buy porn now but It's not a necessity like it was when I was going through puberty. They made a big deal when people started putting porn in their phones.

I don't care, as long as it's regular porn, let the kids play. Just keep them away from the German stuff; THAT might scar them for life.

You think thats bad what Fox said about the psp able to display pornographic material, ABC said the DS is capable of luring children towards sexual predators VIA Pictochat this topic came on nightline and it informed parents not to buy a DS, that was said by AnchorBob WooDdruff before he got blown up in Iraq and live to tell his story. But its funny how network stations are siding with particular handhelds. So far UPN is pro psp, and ABC is ANTI DS, FOX is ANTI psp, but at the end of the day every American television network is PRO gameboy.
