Read Joystiq from within Second Life

A recent update to Second Life that allows players to view the game's online help pages using a custom Mozilla browser has been hacked so that you can view any webpage. Although there's no way to type web addresses without some basic hacking knowledge, it's quite simple to change the homepage to Google or any other website.

Of course you could always just tab-out and use Firefox, but this option has a much greater "geek cool" factor. Let's just hope Fox News doesn't cotton on to the possibility of people browsing "questionable" content from within SL. Anyway, the first commentator to post a screenshot of themselves commenting on this post from within Second Life bags themselves a star.

"A little Linden birdy told us we where doing it the really hardway. Because it turns out to be real simple to change the homepage of the F1 help browser.
Open: c:Documents and SettingsWindowsUserNameApplication DataSecondLifeuser_settingssettings.ini
and add: HtmlHelpHomePage http://www.joystiq.com/
Or any other website.
Our mucking in the exe did help us find the proper name of the setting, so not all was pointless. :)"

At least there are free accounts and/or trials for the service (for people to, uh, get screenshots):

Bah! that sounds like an aweful lot of work. I like my Stars like my women, quick and easy.

mind you that hasn't been working out lately (as noticed by my lack of stars and...), maybe a new philosophy is in order

To paste the screenshot into and save it as a high quality JPG as I dont use something called MSPaint which LOVES to compress JPG's to Shitsville, China.
