XBL Vision camera delayed to October 2nd in Europe and Asia outside of Japan; U.S. Sept. 19th release still on track
Major Nelson has corrected an earlier report made during a recent Blogcast concerning the release date for the Xbox Live Vision camera: it will be out in Europe and Asia (outside of Japan) on October 2nd rather than the earlier September 19th date, which still applies for 360 owners in the U.S.We suppose the short wait is better than the lack of any confirmed release dates for Japan, New Zealand, Australia, or any of the other countries in which the system has already been officially launched. At least Japanese gamers can still converse on their original Xboxes with the Xbox Video Chat camera that was released only in that fair land. They might not get to play UNO on the current generation of hardware, but it's better than nothing.

Personally, I don't know if I'm excited for the camera or not. The camera opens up a LOT of new functionality as shown in the UNO integration. But, what about the community. Will this cause people to start sending picture messages to people that are even pornographic? I'm waiting for September 19th to see if Xbox Live changes radically, or stays just on games. I really don't want to be showing my dad a new game I bought and turn it on to see a new message, just to open it up and show someone naked. Believe me, the internet ain't much different. "Xbox Live Spam." I hope that Microsoft at least tries to control a bit of this. The family settings are not enough, as parents barely know about these settings. My mom doesn't even know about the voice chat. My dad does, and knows that I'm responsible. Let's just hope I'm wrong in my prediction.

Sorry to hear that the UK is getting the short end (for the nth time no less)
Even though there is not an official price yet. I think I might pickup one of these if it's under $35. Not sure why? I hope that if/when camera specific games come out, they aren't overpriced. Perhaps XBLA and 400 or 800 ppints seems about right.

Dan, according to Major Nelson's Blog/podcast, you'll only see the personalized pics for people on your Friends List, so hopefully the folks you know will show some discretion. (For anyone else, a second non-camera-based pic that you've chosen will be shown.)
Reddrive, I'll try to make a separate post on pricing shortly.

I think thats a pretty good idea. I will most likely be picking one of these bad boys up, provided its around 35-50 bucks.
