I've been a Mac and a gamer all of my life. The only thing is that the Mac wasn't always a good gaming platform because of the lack of games and high prices. But now that's changed with Boot Camp and the new Intel Macs. I'm playing Half-Life 2: Episode One on my MacBook right now.

But still, I'm more of a console gamer. (GC, PS2, X360, DS, PSP)

If I didn't -have- to use Windows to play games, it wouldn't be in my house.

I already share this box with linux and I would love to have a Mac.

DUH! When you're in 5% (give or take) of the computer crowd, publishers don't make games- and if they do, it's so far behind- who would want to play it?!?

So if you buy a Mac, there's a damn good chance you don't like games, or play them elsewhere-- just because of the fact that there's nothing to play.

Recently tho- and I mean in the last 4 years- publishers have been moving towards publishing for the Mac- so maybe this little statistic is popping up just because of this fact that publishers' games are not being purchased because it's never been at the forefront of a Mac users mind?- even tho it's easier to install and configure your game on Mac OSX than it is on Windows... So really- do PC users like to play games, or just build a fast computer and spend hours figuring out how to get the damn thing to work?!?!? LOL

#48 - baloney.

I have a Mac, and a Linux box. Windows is not allowed on the internet in this house.

And several hundred console games. I agree with other posts in this thread. I use the computer for work, the games for play. I don't want to have to fiddle around with the computer to get games to work (see "May not work on all drives" on various games), nor risk them destroying any data (see Starforce)

I don't see what's the big fuss. What games are we missing? The one they released yesterday? I play games on my Mac all the time. Most major titles are available for the Mac. There's a ton of great shareware games for the Mac. If what is meant is 'I can't go to Walmart and buy an $8.00 CD of 200 old DOS games for my Mac', or 'Best Buy doesn't carry any Mac games' OK, Who cares? Ever look online? Second, whats with Mac hardware that makes it unsuitable for games? Is the 1600xt in the Imac too low powered? Maybe the GMA950 isn't a great chip, but that $400.00 el-cheapo PC at Walmart probably has a Celeron and shared graphics, too. A Wintel with high-end graphics is not a cheap option, especially with a good CPU. Third point, I built my own Mac from parts I bought on Ebay, and it works fine. My only 'proprietary' parts are the case, motherboard and power supply. I bought a Radeon card, A Pioneer superdrive (from Newegg, same as the PC) and a standard Maxtor hard drive. Everything works fine. I could get a dual 2 GHZ G4 CPU if I wanted to spend the money to upgrade even further. (not neccessary for my uses). So much hot air from the wintel fanboys. A true gaming PC is no cheaper than a Mac, and the Mac is built MUCH better.

What Appple should do is assist developers in porting their games to the Mac platform. I think most would agree that Apple has a couple good software people who know Macs and the Mac OS inside and out, and would allow Mac versions to arrive sooner.
