Anyone else notice the "Windows Live", "wireless battery level", Improved handling of backward-compatible update experience, and "Better support for Xbox 360 game disc recognition" additions in the "misc" section?

Looks like it's no more "dirty disk" errors for me!

The reason I sent in my 360 last week to be repaired was the games weren't reading correctly after an hour or so, I get an error. Then the update has "Better support for Xbox 360 game disc recognition" is very ironic. Looks like I didn't need to send my Xbox 360 in for repairs, the update will fixed my problem. Oh well at least I get a new 360 and an additional 90 day warrenty.

Damn. Shows what I know. Hold on--screw the solstice. As far as meteorology and movie blockbusters are concerned, Summer starts in June.

There is a lot more to this update than initially thought...just check out this developer's blog
http://blogs.msdn.com/xboxteam/

some stuff sounds really neat, little customizations here and there to fix the overall experience. :)

#10: Windows Live ID is the name for the next version of Passport... they're just moving the branding over to the 360 as part of this update so it's consistant with Xbox.com, Live.com, Hotmail.com, etc... Windows Live itself is the blanket brand-name of a bunch of new web services and applications... Microsoft is trying to create some brand recognition around the "Live" name with Xbox Live, Windows Live, and Office Live. See http://ideas.live.com/ for more info on Windows Live.

Don't know if you saw it but the sixth last point in the press release was:
"Better support for Xbox 360 game disc recognition"
Wonder what that means for those who have flashed their DVD-ROM firmware :) but I guess it could be regarding the dirty disk error plaguing lolersticks

Alright, I was playing burnout, no problems. This is after I
downloaded the update, well in the middle of the game it crashed,
NEVER had this happen before. got a error that said disc read error,
clean disc. Well, ok fine i eject it, PERFECTLY CLEAN. reinsert it,
and what is this? it says to play this disc insert it into an
XBOX360. WTF do you think i just did? Now it wont play it at all. I
will try to restart and go again. WTF did microsoft do to me?!?!
Also, on the dashboard it says "Play DVD" instead of game. hmm

I got the update this morning when i woke up and after i rebooted, i noticed a general laginess in the operation of the dash. Maybe i just need to reboot agaoin. Who knows, maybe the software was updating its internal database structure or something like that.

I use the media center extender functionality very often and i noticed a bit more snappiness in it coming up instead of the "trying to connect to a MCE PC" screen.

Overall, i'm going to have to use it more to figure out if i like it, but as with all M$ upgrades, i don't really have a choice to downgrade, now do i?

I just installed it and everything looked really good... Well now I can't play Half Life 2. It loads almost all the way to the main menu, freezes and then the screen turns black. I can't even return to the dashboard! This sucks! I even tried downloading the backward compatible disc thing but now it won't reconize the file on the disk. WTF? This sucks M$!

All of the new features are a breath of fresh air.. Wonderfully executed!

One problem. Why... WHY.. is DVD upscaling only available through the VGA cable, and not through Component cables? I mean, it's nice being able to watch a DVD in 1280x720 on my 21 inch monitor.. But I'd much rather watch a DVD in 1280x720 on my 56 inch HDTV.

Please say this was a small oversight and will be corrected shortly!
