Need I say more? A couple of college kids decided to apply their
Street Fighter obsessed brains to an available blackboard. It's the kind of thing you look at and say to yourself
"why didn't I think of that?" I'm sure that a lot of copycat examples will be popping up in the next few days: I can't wait to see someone attempt to capture a
Mario level up, or a sticky grenade from
Halo, or a terrorist facing off a counter terrorist à la
Counter-Strike or... you get the point.

HA HA HA
Why didn't I think of that?
IT'S SO SIMPLE!
Ahms @ Jun 6th 2006 4:34PM
Very creative :) Now they just have to draw out a Psycho Crusher
matthew @ Jun 6th 2006 4:38PM
Isn't that Brian C. from Kotaku?
SuiXide @ Jun 6th 2006 4:41PM
I wanna see it in stop-motion animated form.
VF @ Jun 6th 2006 4:45PM
I've also heard about this cool movie coming out called Signs, starring Mel Gibson. It's directed by the guy who did Sixth Sense and is about aliens. It should be good.
Tony @ Jun 6th 2006 4:47PM
Its not Street Fighter, its Mortal Kombat - idiot.
Lionel @ Jun 6th 2006 4:48PM
Might be old, but it's the first time I saw it. I thought it was pretty funny and creative yet simple.
TaiZ @ Jun 6th 2006 4:54PM
I've seen a few things like this before, heck, back in Highschool this was the art students favorite pass time. We would have DBZish fights, with the aura and everything, I don't think we tried Mario, but I do remember drawing the first level on a black board.
Sabre @ Jun 6th 2006 5:22PM
What would make this even more is if they were to do a stop-motion version and make it into an animated GIF. That would be absolutely awesome!

I agree with Ozyman666. Someone give that man a star, and
throw a negative star at anyone whose only contribution is, "OLD! This news is, like, SO old! Mom! Get up here, Joystiq is posting OLD stuff again!"
It's not Crecente. Would be kind of funny if it was.
dan s. @ Jun 6th 2006 5:53PM
It was amusing; I haven't seen it. Why do you people assume we want to hear your opinion on how old the news is? Why don't you just not post?
GTgamer @ Jun 6th 2006 5:53PM
Ironically (or maybe it was intentiona), it highlights what could be done with some simple chroma-keying ("green/blue screening") using the chalkboard or difference matching/subtraction. It wouldn't be much of an extension to convert the concept into stop motion or just full motion using a fixed camera position (which works perfectly for a 2D fighter anyway). It just depends how dedicated you are to the joke.

This is a brazilian photo from 2001. Joystiq at this time is being ridicularized in brazilian videogame forums.
Thank you Joystiq, We brazilians are gratefull for the very OLD news.
Lazlo Falconi @ Jun 6th 2006 8:47PM
But I did think of that. Also, it won't be copycat'd. At least, it wasn't back when Moses saw it and thought, "Man, that's so old!"
sconner @ Jun 7th 2006 6:04AM
very old

Conrad Quilty-Harper @ Jun 7th 2006 9:26AM
I couldn't care less about how old this is. Joystiq is not a news site.
Equiz @ Jun 7th 2006 10:08AM
I don't understand you people complaining about its age: I'd seen it looong ago, but it still rocks as much as the first time I saw it! Bet most of the readers hadn't seen it before anyways.
My memory might be cheating on me, but I'm quite sure there where a few other pics.
Guilherme @ Jun 7th 2006 9:32PM
#3 - no, it's a brazilian photo (and its old), and their names are Gilberto (GIBA) and Diego -common names in Brazil
#6 - yes its street fighter (notice the "KO" and the joint life bars - it's street fighter 2, MK had tha separated bars and the time in the middle)
