I'll take this with a grain of salt. Interesting if true but pretty hard to believe.

No one cares if a nerd hacked a 360. Hes not gonna get a girl by modding a console. I say track him down and sentence him to 10 years in an all mens prison.

If you wanta play burned game discs or crap like that, I could care less.

But if this lil chip of theirs is going to allow you to hack xbox live and cheat, then the developers and anyone who uses the chip should be lined up against the wall and stoned by the masses until they are quite crippled.

No one cares? How ignorant of you.

I'm taking anything from Devil 360 VERY lightly, they've let down the scene with exaggerated claims before regarding a GC modchip (before Viper was released) and i'm considering this attention seeking once again.

Don't get me wrong though, i will be damn happy if they are true to their word, why should we have to wait 6 months for a moderate update, the 360 is capable of so much more.

I know the guy who runs the site and he's a complusive liar and this isn't the first false rumour he's started.

I wouldn't be suprised if he just did this for the publicity. He's not a very nice person.

Don't hit them with 360's, they cost too much. just take out the defective power supplies and go after them morning star style.

Have you all been brainwashed by microsoft? I have a 360 and a modded xbox. The media abilities of the 360 are laughable when compared to the xbox with xbmc. Its not about piracy. The fact is that there just are not enough people willing to open thier 360 and void the warrauntee to matter. Mabye by the end of the life cycle when it hits $150 mabye, but we're talking about a $400 piece of equipment with a substantial defect rate. Most people will not risk it. I just want to have XBMC on my 360 because the increased power offers so many new possibilities. I want to control it wirelessly with my pocket pc, stream HD content from my pc, swap the HDD, etc... Let's uncripple this thing.

@ #5: How about money? First one to bring a warezkiddie chip to a new platform has potentially millions of dollars in untapped market available.

To say that the 360 is crippled is to say that Mt. Evere... ehh, you're a fucking idiot.

Yes, we've all been brainwashed by MS, oh my, look at us, we love things that don't work. Yes, you're right, the media abilities of the 360 are laughable, I'm laughing my ass off every time I watch my recorded Conan O'Brien and South Park on my 360.

Why in god's name would you want to control your 360 from your pocket PC? Really?! Would you sit 5 feet away from it and make the disc tray open and close a bunch of times, or would you stand and do it? Would you watch a movie, play a game, touch yourself, download a game? How come your wireless controller that came with the 360 can't do all this? That's unfortunate. You'd better just take that controller and bash it over your head until it breaks cause it's just useless, isn't it. I know what you could do with your pocket PC; learn how to spell!

You know, maybe you're right, it's not about piracy. It's about the unauthorized duplication of goods protected by intellectual property law so that we can all save entire games onto a HDD and play them with no disc. Wait a sec, that's piracy isn't it... damn, I really thought you were on to something that time.

TODO: " * Boot unsigned code"

So *what* is the point of this modchip then? By the mention that this is different from the DVD hack, I assume it does the same thing and allows one to run burned games. Yawn.

"Remind me what the point of wasting months of your life creating a modchip for the 360 is?"

Ask all the guys who made PS2 modchips. They made all kinds of money off that. They still do.

If you want to see laughable, mod a PS2 and try to do something useful with it. Movies, music, emulators, hdloader, and linux...none of is worth the trouble because the PS2 hardware is just too weak to do any of it efficiently.

I'll mod PS2s all day. If I break them, then it's hardly a loss. It's more fun to mod or fix them than it is to use them. I assume the same will apply to the PS3.

I actually have fun with the Xbox and XBL, so I have no reason to mod it or the 360.

Anthony he was referring to having to own windows media center just to watch videos so they can sell more copies of WMC...its pathetic. Also, the Xbox 360 does not let you stream from a replaytv, such as the xbmc does. Currently, thats the only real reason to hack the 360 now as everything else has been covered in the 360 that wasn't in the original xbox. the new update for xbox live covers things that modders were saying they would try to include (boot on setup). I do see a hack pointless right now unless it opens up the video oppurtunities. The only other thing hacking the 360 provides is pirated games which I'm not particularly a fan of and takes away xbox live, not cool.

#10 your the only fuckin idiot on this board. Though I do love the 360 very much. It is crippled compared to a modded Xbox.

You have either a. never touched a modded Xbox or b. just an ignorant fool with his head up Microsofts ass.

As it stands right now, why should we have to connect the 360 to a PC in order to pull up pictures, music and videos? Why cant I hook up an external hard drive and just store everything on it. XBMC owns all the media capabilities of the 360. And it also owns your dumb ass, only you dont realize it.

Is it just me, or wouldn't it be cool if the 360 upscaled DVDs to 720p/1080i ?

Who said anything about not being able to hook up an external HDD?

http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/mods/USB Hard Drive Mod.htm

I'm really confused. The 360 GPU is like 4x more powerful than the Xbox. It has 3 CPU's at 3.2GHz each or something like that and it has around 8x as much RAM. How is that crippled? Clearly you're more concerned about media than the whole point of the Xbox, the games. You need to get a computer that has TV out and a TV that has a digital or S-video in. Silly person, you're using a modded kids toy that little 9 year olds play with as a media center... so sad. You have to be at least 13 to play with a 360!

So you think watching Quicktime movie trailers and checking the weather from your modded toy owns all the media capabilities of the 360? Well I think you need to punch yourself in the face.

I hope you read this and reply, otherwise I'll have no entertainment while I'm at work.

What are you kidding? The whole point of me adding an extra hard drive is not so I can put just music, pictures and Live content. How bout movies, programs, emulators. Thats what XBMC was for the Xbox and why the 360 cant hold a torch to it.

Yes the 360 is a powerful beast. I knew that when I bought one in Nov. Now wouldnt it be nice to tap into some of that and put it to good use? Your seriously telling me you bought a 360 just for games alone? This aint the 90's buddy, consoles do much more then that nowadays. My 360 is hooked up to a 42 inch plasma with 7.1 surround sound, it is my default dvd player, jukebox and game player. What do I need a computer monitor for? And come now honestly, the Xbox a 9-year olds machine? If I wanted a 9 year olds machine Id be playing Nintendo.

The real question should be who wouldnt wanna have their 360 modded. Unlike Sony, Microsoft actually learned a few things from the modding community. Im sure the 360 wouldnt be the way it is today without XBMC, I recall Peter Moore even saying something awhile back on wax on how people were doing some amazing stuff with the Xbox. Modding your system doesnt only mean illegal copies. Educate yourselves before posting something stupid and people like Anthony seem really ignorant and theyre best to be ignored.

Wow did someone steal Anthony's lunch money today. He seems ready to defend the 360 to the death. All I'm saying is I would like my 360 to do all the things my Xbox can do now. I don't pirate games, I use it as my media hub. And about the pocket pc, I can log into my Xbox and control xbox media center from anywhere in my apartment with it. You log in over wifi on your home network and the dashboard pops up, right there in your hand. That means if I want to play a song and I'm not within sight of my tv I can pick a song from the list on my Pocket pc, got it? It is very convienent. I could use my wireless controller, but guess what: it has no display. My Xbox sends media to every room in my apartment. I don't know about you but I don't like going through menus on a console blindly from another room. The 360 has the ability to do everything that my modded xbox does, but microsoft restricted many of the features. That my friend is the definition of crippled. Don't get my wrong, I almost never play a game on my xbox, the 360 has stolen that duty. Oh and I don't want to buy XP MCE just to watch videos from my pc. I have a media center computer, its called a modded xbox.

Only when Microsoft no longer needs to subsidize each xbox360 and make up the lost with game royalties, then they would even consider a non-revenue generating feature such as an universal media player of ones personal media files (ala xbmc).

I'm sure if Microsoft wanted, they can have the xbox360 play all the movies and emulators you want, but I bet you it'll be through their paid download service and not from your personal stash.
