Look at the side, isn't that one of the fake Revolution-logos?

The side says Revolution in the old style. Unless they continued the name for the devkit, I'd say it is a near-but-not-quite-final model.

That thing does look very good, though!

It says Revolution on the side (which is normal, knowing that Dev Kits for the DS are called Nitro). It even shows the Wii-mote with the small plug (rather than the large brick shown in E3 2005.

I'd say... maybe. Note that the controller is not plugged into the Wii, but like previously shown dev-kit Wiimotes, it has an extra cable coming out because it does not yet have the wireless functionality. (Or perhaps being wired is an option so that the developers don't have to constantly change batteries.) In any case, it's not plugged into the box shown - that much is apparent.

Quite possible that this is the "final" dev kit, or this is an actual piece of Wii hardware that is used for QA testing. I think there is at least one or more dev kits in that scene not pictured.

Mark Bozon commented that the near-final dev kits were black in the most recent IGN-Wii mailbag, so I'd say that's probably what it is.

Yes, that's a Samsung HD LCD. Big deal...

Now, however, that I have actually seen this thing on its side (!!!) and next to some other things: DAMN! IT IS SMALL!

Wow that machine is beautiful. I almost feel like I don't deserve one. Anyway I'm buying one for the little blue light.

I could stare at the blue light all day.....

Yes, the blue light is relaxing...

It wouldn't be surprising if dev kits still say Revolution. A lot of DS dev stuff still have NITRO in the title (Nitro is the DS codename, for those who forgot it).

The size of the hardware keeps making me think that the next big nintendo handheld could have the Wii hardware built into it, making it compatible with the virtual console service and gamecube and Wii games for that matter. I think it would be awesome to have a handheld with access to the Vitual Console content.

And the controller....it's so shiny.

Wait, is a dev kit supposed to look like a finished product?

Probably not a dev kit but rather a debug unit used to test the games while in development. PS3 ones are making the rounds now too.

I guess I won't truly grasp just how small the Wii is until I actually hold it. I've done my experiments, featuring 3 DVD cases stacked on top of each other, but I think I need to "play to believe" as the reginator would say.

Jedda.....Holy crap I didn't even think of that dude! You just made me crap my pants. I've been fiending for the rumored portable gamecube forever!

Only problem is......hmm....power supply has to be integrated into the unit so it would have to be bigger eh? But I like where you are goin with this :)
