Having been a fan of Marathon back in the day, I'm happy to see Bungie finally being respected for the games they craft.

The fact that it's a quality game like Halo, that's just icing on the cake.

"... it's very likely that the sound, AI and everything else was pre-rendered."

Uh, what? The trailer's effectively a cutscene. The music was prerecorded. Sound effects were added. The movement of everything was scripted. There is no AI. And this kind of stuff is not "rendered."

It may just be me, but when I hear that music I get the chills.

I love seeing behind the scenes stuff like this.

I'm fairly certain that Halo 3 will take over the world.

I must admit...I am impressed at the amount of work that went into making this trailer. ::hides and watches for Sony to release the making of 'Metal Gear in CG:HD' trailer and implement a live orchestra with 3 more in the brass section and the use of words like real time, and dynamic every other word:: "Dynamicly speaking, real time is real time...only true dynamics" -you get the picture...

I don't think it should be about whether or not you "like" the games of Halo, I believe it should be about respect and props for Bungie. They are a group that is very consistent with their titles. Before coming over to M$ they created some very good titles (Myth, Marathon, and Pathways).

With the Halo series they've pushed the system it was designed for to great lengths, one department being audio. Halo 2 is the only game I can think of that has Player created Positional Audio! When you play a multi-player match and you talk, every damn player near you can hear what you say in full 5.1 audio. That is a feature I wish more multiplayer games would add.

I'll stop there.

I remember an update from bungie.net, I think, and they said its good to get 'alittle' negative feedback from the franchise. They said that every single great product or franchise gets a big horde of jealous feedback. LOTR movies got some bad feedback, Star Wars did, Star Trek, etc. They said they were honoured because it puts them in the 'Great franchise' hall of fame. So keep it up sony fanboys!

and lol @ Assassination, yeah there prolly mad cause they got the shit game killzone and not the fantastic halo

First off as someone mentioned above, the question was rhetorical. Secondly...why don't you goose-step your ass down to the store and buy a copy of the game (and an Xbox or 360 because I'm doubting you have either) before knocking it.

I can't wait for the next nintendo's wii game I'm sure it's going to look way better than Halo 3! I mean the 360's hardware is garbage compare to the wii's. Those graphics and music are like from 8 bit console era. lol. Is that what I have to say to fit in, get a start, or be kool? 1) You are not a fan? who gives a sh**. No one in xbox live will miss you. 2) Bungie is not bald they just proud of the work they are doing. They are producing amaysing HD state of the art graphics, sound and Multichannel surround sound (I know, I know wii's famboys don't care about graphics or music or art only gameplay) which you will not get since the wii console will not support it and must wii games will be developed by 10 people. If I'm going to turn like this brainless lemmings and critize the work 100 artist like the ones at Bungie; hell keep your starts, I prefer to be the (not) kool guy that's not bias towards everything (including art) that does not have the Nintendo’s logo. Now let the bias comments begin wii/piss-heads!

I hated the first Halo with a passion. To me it was nothing more than Goldeneye with vehicles that controled aweful(at the time), and the needler. I still hate it but...Halo 2...that was a game, it really got me to look at it as a whole and that game is...Xtreamly solid, I mean like all around a great game. Single player was interesting and fun(I loved puting it on Heroic/Ledgendary and protecting the white elite), and then multiplayer...wow. The only thing that game is missing is more strategy involved like a battlefeild structure maybe. I only say that because I get bored with it very easy (like in an hour) playing multiplayer but for my friends it's intertaining through out the night. It is probably the reason I play FPS because I thought Goldeneye was the only worthy one. So yeah even if you don't like it, you still have to admit that it is a solid game with all the components for fun, Killing things, super jumps, and twelve year olds(jk). The Japanese seem to be very uptight about playing an American game(We gave you McDonalds why can't you like Halo?)which dosen't make sence because the Japanese seem to obsess over being like "westerners".
P.S. Killzone to me had a better setting, graphic style, and that knife:), but it just wasn't fun to play...

Well in regards to #31. First person shooters usually are action packed and don't require all that much thinking but thats only on lower difficulty levels. Just try playing Halo 1 or 2 on Legendary and not coming up with strategys and ways to progress through the hordes of enemies and yes you will die. Now also don't get me wrong I love role playing games, and other genre's but FPS in general have their place in they market. I for one have the brains to play a role playing game but sometimes I just like to pop a FPS in, keep the difficulty on normal, and just get some good action in.

@ 30,32

Yeah most RPGs are so boring and tedious, I don't get how someone can put themselves through the torture of a random battle every 5 seconds for 40+ hours. Why would you play a game that !tries! to annoy you?
P.S. Ogre Battle 64 is my favorite game of all time followed by Tatics Ogre. (Notice: NO RANDOM BATTLES!!! usually...)

I think it's funny that all the people who don't like Halo are "Sony Fanboys". I played Halo for a while, it was pretty cool, but nothing new, or fun, or even really that interesting. Maybe the people who don't like Halo have been playing great FPS games on the PC for years. I'm glad that Halo has opened people’s eyes to the greatness that is fast paced multiplayer shooters, but it feels stale to me. I was only excited about Halo before Bungie was purchased by Microsoft and transformed into a Xbox only developer, it was originally slated for simultaneous PC and Mac release. I know it wouldn't be half as popular as it is now if that had happened, but I'm sure Bungie will continue making quality titles. I just wish I could get Myth 3. Myth and Myth II were unbelievable, innovative, and genre defining. Call me a “PC fanboy” if you want =P, just please don't call my a "Sony Fanboy".

Myself I just love playing all types of games and while the Halo series is far from the best FPS in the world, it ranks higher up for me then most because its just fun. As a matter of fact I've been playing Halo 1 again with my roomate co-op of course, were about half way through and its just as fun this time as it was the first time I played it.

It's amazing how much hype this game has. I mean, come on, even my brother who LOVES halo and plays it regularly (I like it as well, btw) had to laugh when I told him they were making a DOCUMENTARY about a trailer that hardly lasted one minute! If the trailer had been more like that mgs4 trailer which lasted 15 minutes, then it might be more understandable. I'm just surprised no one has pointed this out yet.

To the dude that said RPG's need to be thought about, lol my 6 year old cousin just beat KOTOR but can't do games such as Halo on legendary. You're silly, dude, very silly.
Also, Halo is a phenomenen, or however you spell it, can't be bothered to pull up dictionary.com. The franchise has got almost perfect review scores, good campaign + co-op feature, unmatched multiplayer, best control setup, won ALOT of awards, broke sale records, has books and has a movie with Peter Jackson developing, has another sequel, etc, its been very successful. If it flopped, as many of you seem to think it has, why would they continue to make merchandise and continue with the franchise? Silly, silly.. Go play, er Killzone, which got 6/10 scores on most review sites.

Here is a list of the type of people that don't like Halo...

1:A good chunk of RPG players
2:People that hate MS
3:Impatient people(take some time and get into the story man, and yes, the game has a lot of repetition)
4:Many people that don't play many games
5:People that suck at it
6:People that don't like FPS games
7:People with no friends or Xbox Live(for the multiplayer)

That is my list. I am sure that there are more types, but that is what I could come up with. I myself, like Halo and Halo 2, and anybody that says the game is not repetitive needs to play the library level again.I hope they do something huge for multiplayer in Halo 3(MAP EDITOR) because I got tired of 2's after a couple of months(especially after their first update made it suck).

The story, music and gameplay made Halo. If you can't recognize the quality of the story that is Halo, you must be braindead.

All that hard work Bungie did is simply mind boggling.

Still, do this day, I have never played a game that controlled as tightly as Halo did. It really gives you the feel of controlling Master Cheif. I hate the way the character in Oblivion jumps up and down...it is so goofy feeling and looking. Bungie basically made a third person character, with life-like movement, for a FPS game. Doom 3 was just a camera where you could see a hand holding the gun. That is why that mutli-player was crap; your character model 'ghosts' across the landscape in a completely foolish way.

Bungie is God, I would worship that false idle any day of the week (except Sunday).

Er.. right.

One word for all of you Halo-obsessed:

OVERRATED. Seriously. Fucking. Overrated.

Yes, Halo and Halo 2 have their strong points. Hell, I bought my Xbox FOR Halo 2. The muliplayer is fantastic and well-done, but not enough reason to lay down over 200 bucks for basically one game. The co-op campaign can even be fun.. occasionally. And yes, I realize that the story is epic.

I just really don't think Halo is that big of a deal, though; not enough to warrant the ratings and massive fanbase. Those of you who don't think the game is linear and the story (while epic) is cheesy as hell need to wake up. Basically, what Halo boils down to is a well-polished console FPS with un-akward controls and enjoyable multi-player. Nothing more.

Btw.. feel free to bash me all you'd like for expressing my opinion. But keep in mind that I purchased an Xbox solely for this game, so I feel that I have the right.

First off I would like to say that HALO is my porn... Just kidding, but it does rank up there pretty close.

HALO has an epic yet corney story line that draws the player in. That is what makes it so good.

The graphics are orgasmic and the music is great especially for the HALO 3 trailer.

I have been playing DOOM 3 for the last week. The single player is great but they made serious errors when putting the player mechanics together causing the multiplayer to suck. HALO avoided those errors with flying colors.

Also unlike many FPS games I have played HALO and HALO 2's multiplayer maps are actually fun to play on.

P.S. I am a computer gamer.
