Only about a year until the movie releases and still no choosings on a developer? Something tells me we may have another title to tack onto the "horrible movie adaptations" list of games.

OK....so the movie is due out in a year and they haven't even STARTED the game? *hangs head in disbelief*

Name me a good 3D game that didn't take SEVERAL years to get right?

It looks like only thing that can be a bigger joke than this new Transformers movie....is the new Transformers game.

I am a Transformers fanboy btw. I feel my childhood memories screaming in pain.

/meladramatic yet somehow satirically funny rant

if the movie doesnt come out until next year, why does the time countdown to july 4th of this year?

How does it come out July 4, 2007, but still less than 26 days away(based on the count down)?

That's pretty confusing to me.

Because Bernie Mac is doing the website scripting too?

Well, theyre Activision, so unless they've got Raven, id, Neversoft or Grey Matter making the game, it's sure to suck. Sadly, none of those studios are doing it. Bring on the lackluster movie game cash-in!

I think teaser trailers are usually shown one year to the day of release.

I don't think they even know when the movie releases. The countdown says 25 days, the release date below it says July 4, 2007. Amazingly well-done on their part.

The game will stink for sure, that's just a given for licensed games. I'm holding out hope for the movie, but only because the geek in me is just excited to see a live-action + CG Transformers movie, regardless of actors or script.

The transformers sucked after the first generation. When Megatron was turned to Galvatron, Optimus Prime and Starscream died along with several other original Autobots and Decepticons, I lost interest.

Every Transformers attempt since the original movie has been depressing...especially the non-transforming generation...

I played Transformers on the PS2 (a gift) and it just wasn't tolerable. If they get it right this time, I'll probably pay give it a go. I've yet to play a good Transformers game.

Well, knowing how the game dev industry works, THere are probabbly either a 5 devs already working on a version of the game. Or they already have decided, but keeping it under wraps.

I'm looking forward to this one but they should've waited until 7/4 to put up that countdown. It confused me too.

It'll be too bad if the tie-in game crapped out. The Transformers game currently available on the ps2 was moderately kick-ass. I've been waiting for a souped upsequel to that for a while.

my guess is it's a countdown to the unveiling of a teaser trailer.

This movies being produced by Steven Spielberg and Directed by Michael Bay. This movie will kick ass.

I'm (very) cautiously optimistic about the new live action TF movie.

The Citroen TV ads showed what is potentially possible and it all looked good.

My concerns are that Spielberg has been pretty hit and miss recently, but will guarantee a big budget. Bay's direction can be wonky at times - the energy of Bad Boys II fits well with Transformers, but Pearl Harbour and The Island missed out on any emotional context (the orginal TF movie was all about the relationships between characters).

The screenplay is the biggest concern. When you have multiple writers it's always a worry, and the three working on TF don't exactly have amazing credentials... Catwoman, The Island, epsiodes of Xena, Hercules and Alias.

My preference would be a remake of the original TF animated movie with extended battle scenes (as long as they didn't change the Optimus Prime "...no matter the cost' bit!)

News on the web is that one of the latest casting decision is for a scientist based on someone from the G1 series... so fingers crossed it'll be a G1 based movie.

@Jdoki

It's already been announced that this movie will have a story based on G1.

Bay is SUPPOSEDLY a TF fan and wanted to do a remake of the original story ark. The movie will supposedly be about the autobot and decepticons initial crashing on Earth in the Ark.

My biggest worry is that they will totally fuck up Optimus and Megatron.

Hollywood has a knack for making the bad guys more likable than the good guys.

I do wonder why Optimus Prime was called that in American but in Japan he was called Convoy.

Convoy makes a lot more sense especially when you look at the other names of the autobots and decepticons.

Megatron does make sense but Optimus Prime?

Well, whether you like convoy better or not, Optimus Prime is still the most accurate as TF was made in NA first. :P

Besides.....convoy sounds like a peon name. Not a name for a grand leader imo.

"Optimus Prime" is unpronounceable in japanese. It probably sounded like a cuss phrase....
