Those of us concerned that our item duping days are a thing of the past, thanks to Bethesda's
Oblivion patch, need not worry. Even with the patch installed, you'll still be churning out grand soul gems faster than a gang of mage apprentices -- and you won't need no stinkin'
code to do it. Here's the step-by-step from About.com (purists, avert your gazes):
- Equip any number of arrows (a number divisible by ten is advised)
- With no weapon equipped, look at the floor and punch it by pressing Right Trigger
- Quickly, before the punch has been completed, press B to access the inventory screen
- Select the arrows that are equipped and press A to attempt to unequip them (you will receive a message saying you cannot do this because you are attacking)
- Select the item you wish to duplicate and press X to drop and duplicate the item
- Pick up your loot

No one needs this glitch. Just play the game it was meant to be played. I bought the Pirate ship expansion thingy and my pirates go out and plunder 2000 gold every week for me. Easy money and its legit. :)

Can't see anything wrong with this well-thought out patch... No, really.
Raikage @ Jun 12th 2006 12:54PM
Hummmm....I wonder who figures these things out...I mean seriously...punching ground arrow drop cool item poof 1000 of them? How do you figure something like that out?
P.S. Whatever floats your boat...
P.S.P.S. The game looks awesome...

2000 a week? My pirates only plunder a thousand a week for me. Oh well, I already 'exploited' some count for about $400,000+ right before the patch came out. I'll be OK.
Jared @ Jun 12th 2006 1:07PM
next thing out= oblivion patch version 1.2:
bugs fixed- fixed an issue with duplicating items and punching the ground
...lol
ChronoZaga @ Jun 12th 2006 1:08PM
Firstly, "P.S.P.S." should be "P.P.S." for post-postscript.
Secondly, why would you care if someone else does or does not use this? Get a life.
Thirdkly, BOOYAH! I can get the bugfixes now!
bv @ Jun 12th 2006 1:19PM
I've duped items the following way:
1. unequip all weapons and shields so its just you and your mits.
2. throw a punch anywhere and at the point where your arm is extended, press B to go to the menu.
3. Equip one set of arrows, then equip another set and equip it once more so it says You can't equip items while attacking. (The last set of arrows you pick should be the one you have the most of because the amount in your quiver determines the amount of items duped).
4. Find the item you want to drop, press x, and watch as the gods bless you with an early christmas.
Another cool tip is to dupe a crap load of Potions of Healing and Hot Key the item to your D-Pad. I place it in the Down arrow and all you have to do in battle is press that down arrow when your hurt and voila you gain health back.
Also, if your a low level and you have a bunch of money from the dorian glitch, go to the imperial city market distrit and enter Rainars(sp?) staffs. Buy the apothesis and a few soul gems. Dupe a crap load of soul gems for refills and there you have it, a weapon that will send most people flying like basket weaved scarecrows. This weapon serioulsy kicks ass and will allow you to complete mini quests like the Arena in under a half hour.
I know its cheating, but hey, this isn't college now is it?

Whew, good thing there is this exploit, I forgot how expensive arrows are! Almost as expensive as repair hammers, considering how hard it is to get gold in this game. I mean you actually have to *play* the game to get gold, you can't just stand there and have it fill your pockets.
josh @ Jun 12th 2006 1:52PM
"Whew, good thing there is this exploit, I forgot how expensive arrows are!"
The exploit, unless I read wrong, lets you convert your arrows into any other object. So you could, for example, convert 100 arrows into 100 really expensive items.
J @ Jun 12th 2006 2:13PM
#9 It doesn't convert the arrows as such, it duplicates and item of your choice to the number of arrows you have, you still get to keep the arrows.

Man, I've been holding off on applying this patch. Now I can get my background downloads working again. Yay! Oh, to those people that say you shouldn't use this glitch, I feel that the game is way too long to not use it. I've got other things in life I need to do as well.
Brazil Soccer @ Jun 12th 2006 4:28PM
#11: "I've got other things in life I need to do as well."
You bet! I want to see everything the game has to show, and still be a casual player.
burn23 @ Jun 12th 2006 4:55PM
do any of these "exploits" work on the PC version?
Jared @ Jun 12th 2006 5:28PM
ya don't always have to clone the new conventional ways like punching the ground... i just cloned 100 nightshades outta an imperial legion's face
Uglypugly @ Jun 12th 2006 6:58PM
This way is easier. (for PC not sure about 360)
1. Have your bow equipped along with your largest quiver, the more the merrier.
2. Look straight up into the sky, and press and hold the fire button.
3. Go into your inventory and click your quiver twice, (make sure it makes the noise)
4. Scroll down to the item you wish to be dupped and drop it.
5. Roll around in your no hundreds of flawless diamonds and grand soul gems.
Also, a quick way to get money, is to go to the K'vatch camp, equip your sword, get on your horse, and talk to the orc merchant lady. Sell your sword (she only has $200) yet its still in your inventory. ya!

There's an even EASIER way for the PC version to get pretty much whatever you want.
Press ~ - you know, the key to the left of 1 on your keyboard.
Type in the following, including the quotation marks:
player.additem 0000000f "100"
Poof - you've added 100 gold to your inventory. Of course, there's no reason you can't type in "10000" instead of "100"...
Go here - http://www.gamewinners.com/DOSWIN/blelderscrolls4.htm - for lot's more things to type in.
Imadogg99 @ Jun 12th 2006 8:30PM
I haven't used an item duplicate cheat since Pokemon blue... fly to Cinnabar Island or some shit, I forgot...
I like playing fair these days
Josh @ Jun 13th 2006 1:33PM
Er... why in god's name to people care if other people cheat in this purely single-player game? Are they coming over to your house, cheating on your game, and making you feel guilty or something?
This game lends itself to a certain amount of play.. its the WHOLE point of this game. Try pickpocketing someone and instead of taking something, leave them a bottle of skooma and follow them a while... or a poisoned apple. Fun times.
