Okay, maybe it's just me, but, are people still complaining about back compat? All of my Xbox titles were on the launch list, so I've never had a problem. But, still, aside from a few classic games for the Xbox, how many of these old Xbox games really matter anymore?

#2 (asurroca). Not everybody who bought a 360 owns an XBox. I never owned an XBox but believed Microsoft's hype about backward compatibility. The only game that I'm interested in that is currently BC is Halo 2. There are dozens of games that I would like to play (never played them before) on my 360 while I wait for new 360 titles... but can't because they are NOT BC.

Peter Moore was being truthful with his original comment. His "clarification" is obviously backpedaling.

Mr. Moore, you over-hyped Backward Compatibility before the 360 launch to sell more units. Well, it worked. Show us that you and Microsoft have more integrity than Sony. Stand by your deception. Just as you (Microsoft) are standing by the 360's inability to stream video from a PC running Windows XP with Windows Media Connect.

There are numerous broken 360 promises. Have the integrity to admit the deceptions and the shortcomings or make good on them. But swaying in the breeze of popular opinion makes you as slick as a used car salesmen and no better than Sony.

I'll care about the backward compatibility patches as soon as they make Guilty Gear XX #Reload a backward compatible title.

What i wonder is will anyone really care about BC one year from now, you know when the market is (hopefully) overrun with the 200 titles ( i`m not counting the XBLA titles. Microsoft is counting them saying there are a hunderd tiltles out right now. bad Petey Moore!! bad!!) they announced.

The fact remains that many people - and not just the video game nuts like us that frequent this site - purchased the premium 360 because it was the only way we could enjoy backwards compat. This was the stated goal and something that a good many made the purchase for. The 360 really only has a few games available and the notion that people could purchase original Xbox games to play is enticing. I'm certain it helped sales for the PS2 and Nintendo lines.

Bottom line: ya make a promise, you try and deliver that promise.

I have to agree with sracer and frogBrother. Microsoft promised us that the 360 would be backward for most major titles. I do believe that they have made some great strides and got allot of the big titles done but there is still more work to be done. If Mr. Moore had said “Hey guys hang tight we are working on the BC List, we are going in order of most units sold are first done.” I would be OK with this. Another thing that would be nice is if they looked over all the Xbox games ever published and created list that said these games can be made backward compatible and listed them in the order they will be completed, and another list for whatever reason these games can not be moved forward. Then we know where we stand.

Another reason I believe that Microsoft should work harder on the BC list is that as soon as most of the games that I play or want to play can be played on the 360 I will sell my Xbox 1. If there are others in the same situation this could mean allot of new customers trying out the Microsoft brand consoles. Sure this could be viewed as taking away sales from the 360 but I believe this could lead to increased sales of the 360 two to three years down the road. I was in Best Buy on Monday and saw someone buying a PS2, so I think there are allot of people who are ready to try gaming or buy video game consoles for their children, but can not afford or refuse to pay more then $200 for a console and some games.

Call me a dork but please Mr. Moore and company get Ubisofts ChessMaster on the BC List!!!!!!

The bad thing about the lack of full backwards compatibility is new games being released for the XBOX and not the 360.

I realise Rogue Trooper is not the top of anyone elses list of games they want to play, but it is on mine. They went and released it just after I traded in my XBOX for a 360.

I wonder how many people didn't buy a DVD player because it wasn't backwards compatible with the VCR. :)

@11.
Don't laugh. I help someone buy a new computer 2 years ago with an inbuilt DVD player. When they got it home they asked where the slot was for the video tapes.

Peter Moore keeps trying to convince us that we don't wan't to play our old favorites. We don't care about backwards compatiblity.

WE DO!!!

Why do you think they sell classic compilations...
Because we like to play the old games that we did not trade in, we did not trade them in because we like that game. We would like to still play that game.

Mr Moore,
Please stop telling us what we want and start listening to what we want.
Thanks for the June Update to the BC List.
I just moved 5 Games over to the 360 side of my entertainments center. My son did the Happy dance for Lego Star Wars and Battlefront.
Now I just need SW Republic Commando to make the list.
Time to ebay the XBOX.
