Need to protect your DS Lite? Strapped for cash? Just grab some glue and a pair of old jeans

John Spain, a law student out of Tallahassee, Florida, recently put an old pair of jeans to good use when he crafted a DS Lite case out of one of the legs -- most of the rest went to *shudder* homemade jean shorts (hope you didn't cut 'em too high, John). He added extra pockets to the case for games and headphones, and eventually, his girlfriend is gonna sew on a cute button. Brilliant.
John's offering the step-by-step guide, plus a few tips, on his blog. Thanks, John, but we're sticking to the store-bought version.

WHat about when the glue eventually fades away/disintegrates? I would hate to have my DS fall out.

Sad.

I want to see the cut-off shorts. It looks like a LOT of leg was removed. Is John traipsing around in Daisy Dukes now? Hmmm, maybe I DON'T want to see the shorts (or his nuts hanging out of them).

You could do that. Or you could just use an altoids box, like the one seen here http://www.thezeroboss.com/images/altoids.jpg
sold at any convenience store.
The dimensions just happen to be perfect for exactly 8 DS games, or 2 ds games and 1 gba game.

Or, just use the foam sleeve it came in. No scratches, no arts-and-crafts.

I'm useing the foam sleeve atm. Its falling apart a bit though :(

To #5...
I fail to see how you plan on cramming your DS into that small altoids case. The point of his DS lite jean leg case is to hold his DS... the pocket for the games is just extra.

to #6.. That sleeve is just an anti static sleeve, It's not a carrying case nor would it protect the DS Lite from damage. Besides.. that's pretty damn ghetto, you might as well have that cardboard game case to go with it! :D

Wth?

Actually #8, you are the one who missed the primary point, at least to the author. He starts out with this:
"Among my first observations was the fact that despite being truly pocket sized, it unfortunately lacked a way of taking any games or accessories with you. The boxes games come in are illogically large and there wasn't really a good way to stow headphones."
It was to this that I directed my comment.

I'm suprised that someone who made this would have a girlfriend to sew a button on it.

Every DS lite in Australia came with a free case similar to those given out at E3, is that not the case in the US?

"Is John traipsing around in Daisy Dukes now?"
I've never been traipsing before. Does it hurt?

funny, but no thank! I would rather stick to one of these nice DS Lite cases - http://www.renchi.com/renchi/NewsDetail?newsID=765
