Collectible Metroid statue; where's Samus?

The guys at First 4 Figures dropped us a tip to let us know about their upcoming Metroid Prime Hunters collectible, a 9" tall figurine of super-soldier bounty hunter Kanden.
"Who?"
Oh, Kanden. He's one of the six "hunters" in Metroid Prime Hunters. Yeah, the ones that most people thought were annoying in the otherwise stellar single-player game. What is cool about the statue is that it was recreated from the actual game data (like this guy), so expect a slightly less polygonal -- though highly accurate -- collectible. The website says the figurine will "feature an interconnecting base with the other upcoming hunters."
As long as we're on the topic of the Hunters, am I the only one who thought their names sound sort of like American Gladiators: Noxus, Stylux, Spire, Trace, Weavel, and of course, Kanden?

I thought that said "Rim" hunters...

uh...dude...if you look at the the link, there's mention of all the planned Metroid figurines, and like 5 different ones of Samus and her suits :X

That sculpt is pathetic, all of the edges are way to soft and the stance isn't dynamic at all. If it were a 2" statue it would be fine, but at 9" it is very, very weak. They shouldn't have shown any images until the nailed the sculpt.
I made better sculptures than that back in highschool.

I think you were supposed to end your post with "Worst. Sculpt. Ever."
The Kanden statue is one of the new rewards being offered to Japanese Nintendo fan club members, according to 4cr, iirc.

you forgot lazer, blazer, tazer and bob

Taken from the original game data means that they used the Kanden model from the prerendered cutscenes to create this. Not the low-poly model from the game.

As enticing as that does sound, I just can't seem to rationalize spending nearly $100 on a statue of a fictional character from one of the (IMO) weakest entries in the Metroid series.
And I like the Metroid games. But $100?

The game would've been better if you could choose from all the hunters in the adventure. They would have different reasons to do their quest, and replay value would've been great.
maybe next time.
PS: the names of bosses are all kind of dumb. Take MGS: you have liquid, Ocelot, Fortune, etc. My personal fav. name is "Bus" from Double Dragon II.

Yeah, I like what these F4F guys are doing... but not for $100!
They are cool and all... but that $100 could net me three DS/GBA games, or two GCN/PS2 games (plus tax... or even more if I get budget titles!).
And if they're trying to target fans of the game (i.e. GAMERS), they're gonna have a hard time to convince them to spend money on this figures instead of games...
Oh, and it's "Sylux", not "Stylux." :)
Tom B. @ Jun 16th 2006 2:16PM
Yeah, I mean they're not even interactive!
And to be fair, they may not go for a full $100. The website says they may go for as low as $85. :/

All the fanboys rejoice as I'm sure they'll release a Zero Suit statue.

Call me when Samus has her status up. I find the other bounty hunters to just be gimmicks and generic looking.
waluigi14 @ Jun 16th 2006 4:59PM
It's SYLUX not STYLUX. It's not Silas either.
Rare Hare @ Jun 16th 2006 7:29PM
yeah, i was looking at the bios, etc. of the other hunters hoping that they would be cool new additions to the franchise that i was introduced to video games on.. but no.
it's a shame how lame the other hunters are. or maybe they just seem that way compared to the totally badass Samus Aran.
ps. Samus Aran could kick Spartan 116 Master Chief's ass any day, and you all know it.
Studly McG @ Jun 16th 2006 8:25PM
These stupid hunters remind me too much of that Bionicle garbage Lego puts out these days. These figurines are just as stupid as the lego, right down to their goofy names.
Multiplayer in Metroid doesn't make any sense. The game is about a solitary adventure; I wish it would have stayed that way.
idioteraser @ Jun 17th 2006 12:12AM
Yet is amazing how many people want multiplayer online in Metroid Prime 3.

(#14: ps. Samus Aran could kick Spartan 116 Master Chief's ass any day, and you all know it.)
[fanboy] It's Spartan 117, and his name is John. [/fanboy]
