As we've talked about before, MechAssault: Phantom War is DS bound. It looked great on paper when it was announced months ago and it now appears to be coming along very, very nicely right in the middle of its development cycle. How do we know it's coming along so well? Because the developer has just launched a 6-part development diary via IGN."I'll be filling you in on all of the fun, unusual and sometimes gory details of what it was like to make this game at good old Backbone Entertainment in Emeryville, California," says game producer Sara Guinness.
What's nice about this particular developer diary is that you can tell the producers wrote it versus some shill from marketing. In fact, the series seems to be less about the new MechAssault game and more about the difficulties and opportunities in developing a full 3D game on the Nintendo DS. It makes for fun, informative reading.
