The controller in the picture is the best gamepad ever made, even w/o the analog sticks.

#52, yep that and the Genesis 6-button too, they were design for 2D Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter games, I didn't really like the Dreamcast controller, they should've keep the Saturn 3D pad design for the Dreamcast.

"Destruction Derby and Wipeout were developed by Psygnosis (based in Liverpool, England), which Sony owned."

Sony didn't own Psygnosis at the time...that didn't happen until after 2000. Once Sony bought Psygnosis then their named changed to "Studio Liverpool."

Acquired by the Sony Corporation in 1993 Psygnosis played a key role in the launch of the Sony PlayStation in 1995. Games such as Wipeout® and Destruction Derby broke new ground and dominated PlayStation's first year sales.

Saturn VF3, apparently. It's hard to tell though as the quality really isn't that good, but I've uploaded it anyway. ;o)

"In late 1998, Eidos Interactive bought Psygnosis' European operations. Psygnosis' US operations were folded into Sony's own development outfit, 989 Studios. Finally, in 2000, Psygnosis (as a Sony brand) abandoned the PC game market for good. All US studios closed. UK studios were incorporated with SCEE."

Umm...this proves I was right. The EU divison of Psygnosis was responsible for doing Wipeout hence the reason why Wipeout appeared on both the Saturn and the N64 before being gobbled up by Sony completely.

Erm, HOW do you work that out?

What you say:
Sony bought Psygnosis in 2000.

What the article says:
Sony bought Psygnosis in 1993 and in 2000 Psygnosis stopped PC development.

No wonder you're on -2 stars!!

Ok so I was off by a little bit BUT you are thinking that b/c they bought the US division of Psygnosis that they bought the ENTIRE company...they DIDN'T. The UK division of Psygnosis was responsible for developing the Wipeout series...always has been. Sony didn't buy them until AFTER they completed development of Wipeout for the Saturn and N64. By the time Wipeout XL was released, they were owned by Sony and it wasn't until later they their name was changed to 'Studio Liverpool.'

The Wipeout series is one of my all-time favorite game series so I know the history of where its been.

...as for the negative stars, those are from an 'unprofessional' mod from Joystiq that has a grudge against me and is biased on who he edits.

If anybody has ever played VF2, Datoyna USA, Nights, Burning Rangers, Panzer Dragoon Saga, or Radiant Silvergun (check out the last boss fight) they will see the true testament of the Saturn's severely untapped 3D capabilities. The Dreamcast might have faired better if they waited to incorporate a DVD drive and stronger third party support.

Sabre doesn't ever know what he talking about. Don't pay him any mind. He's just busy going around trying to get more negative stars. He is a really bad guy. :-)

Whatever LongshotX...if I'm trying to get (legit) negative stars then tell me what I've been saying about Psygnosis is wrong b/c Gareth sure hasn't.

Yes I did, right here:

> What you say:
> Sony bought Psygnosis in 2000.

> What the article says:

> stopped PC development.

If you're half the fan you claim to be then you'd have known that you were a staggering 7 years off.

Anyway, it's hardly worth getting into an argument about it. I'd have to agree on some weird behaviour regarding stars too - sometimes I have one, sometimes I don't. I got -1 star for criticising this site, and it was then removed when I pointed that out.
