Yep, we all knew it was coming, but today the official Press Release hit the wires. The fine folks at Buena Vista games, the "interactive entertainment arm" of Walt Disney, are about to release their first game on the PSP. Naturally, it will be a tie-in to Disney's soon-to-be blockbuster, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
According to the press release, "The PSP system version offers gamers the opportunity to control Captain Jack Sparrow. Players can utilize strength and speed attacks to take down enemies as well as 'dirty moves,' typical of pirate fighting."
Typical of pirate fighting? Cool. I wonder how many pirates the developers fought to get their "dirty moves" system to be so authentic?
The PSP version also features multiplayer ship battles for up to four players via wireless. Ship battle gameplay contains 10 maps and offers "GameShare" mode where only one game disc needed to play on multiple PSPs.
If you are so inclined, you can read all of the gritty details here. It is a fairly dry and lengthy read, typical of pirate issued press releases. The game hits on Tuesday, June 27, in time for the film's release on July 7.
