Seriously, what was wrong with Silent Hill? I loved it, friends who never heard of the game loved it.

I don't see how that can get butchered by critics but hostel is regalled as some kind of daring new fantastic movie. Hostel was a terrible movie, and I don't mean gross, just plain bad.

I would hope they do clock tower the freaky justice it deserves. The original snes game was scary, which is very impressive for a snes sidescroller. They had something good in that series, hopefully it goes to the screen well.

Scissorsmans!!!!!!! Me and a friend used to play this game all the time, it sucked, but it was so much fun to make fun of it. And clocktower 3 was made by Capcom.

You're right, it's actually *made* by Human Head and published by Capcom and formerly ASCII (like the picture shows).

I'm surprised they bothered with a license when the source material for the plot is in the public domain.

Jorge Olguin has directed a few movies with ratings that can't break the 5/10 barrier. Hollywood's next victim indeed.

I remember when they wanted to do a movie based on the TG16/Genesis title "Splatterhouse". That went nowhere, as should the Clock Tower movie.

When I did a search for "Splatterhouse movie", I did find out that there WAS a movie titled "Splatterhouse", but alas... it was porn.

I'm sure there's a "cock tower" coming soon.

If people want a Clock Tower movie, they should go watch Phenomena. It's what Clock Tower is heavily based on. It's an old Argento movie, starring Jennifer Connely (the protagonist in Clock Tower was named Jennifer, too, no?), and there's a guy running around killing people with giant scissors.

Sound familiar?

The scissorman is an almost generic nightmare monster for much of Europe.

Anybody else remember Grant Morrison's run on Doom Patrol starting in 1989? His first threat introduced, besides the DP's own existing problems like not having a body with a sense of touch, was the Scissormen. Looong before Clock Tower 1.

Christ, I hated that game. I remember one scene where I was in this house, or whatever and I had to hide in a bed to escape that guy with the ginormous hedge clippers.

I say, LET'S MAKE A MOVIE!

Alone in the Dark obscure? Perhaps - if you're 13 years old or something...

"3. You're right, it's actually *made* by Human Head and published by Capcom and formerly ASCII (like the picture shows)."

Well, Clock Tower 1 and 2 weren't touched by Capcom at all. Pretty sure they didn't even reprint them or anything. It was all Ascii publishing.

And this game was sweet. First game I played that I was actually scared while playing (RE didn't scare me, just jolted me with shocker moments). Being so helpless against the scissorman, the building music pace, then the desperate attempts of hiding only to have him find you. So great.

Of course if I played it today I'd probably hate it...

DeeMan: I had the first version, PC, 1992. Beat it too.

Reality is, when they made a movie about it, most people scratched their heads. When Resident Evil for PSX came out and people like you and I screamed "This is just like AITD!" they all said, "What?"

None of the games have been big sellers and, as a result, their appeal and influence is barely felt outside of the inward facing video game crowd. Clock Tower: same thing.

"hopefully the combination of an acclaimed director and a well received plot can deliver gamers a worthy film."

a) I liked Silent Hill
b) Silent Hill had those things, and you're still bashing it, so what's your point?

"nice, tall glass of gore"

So you're saying the movie had too much gore? Seriously, have you played the games? Have you? If that's not what you're saying, then it made no sense.

Maybe they should realize that these games are more scary and entertaining because we play them. Althought its neat to see a game transformed into movie form, I would just hate to be dissappointed again. Maybe they should MAKE a scary MOVIE THEN make a GAME out of something.....no wait...that never works either
