I'm getting the feeling that no one is going to give this one a chance. Why? We haved played it. Sure it seems to have an unusual premise, but haven't some of the best games (and worst, too, I'm aware) had an unusual premise.

I sure hope that it has nothing to do with the companies decision to feature a famed classical composer. That would only perpetuate a stereotype about gamers.

I for one was interested when hearing of this game and immediately wanted to know more. Maybe it's just because I'm a 360 owner and an RPG fan and the 2 just somehow haven't come together yet.

Please joystiqers don't judge a game by it's box art.

sweet, I love to see quirky titles surfacing on my console. I had to pull the PS2 out of the closet to play Katamari Damacy.

Well that's wack as hell...How about a Soul Calibur Fighter/RPG? Can we get that? You stupid Japanese developers, just go ahead and ride Sony's d*ck. Especially you Square, your crime is by far the deepest.

So, if games like GTA supposedly make kids go out and kill hookers, does that mean that after playing this they'll sit down and compose suites?

I'll wait for the PC version.

Chopin-based games just aren't the same without keyboard input.

(If that's not worth a star, I'm just going to stop trying now.)

Can you get Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig Van Beethoven in your group? I hear Mozart has a cool Magic Flute and Beethoven sneaks up on monsters and strangles them with piano wire.

I am intrigued though. The pictures I've seen have looked great. Hey at least its not another spikey hair RPG. I'll be curious to see how this one turns out, chances are it will stink but the idea is wierd enough that it could turn out to be genius.

longshotx what u just said makes no sense. dont get mad because the rpgs you want are on another system, instead get the system that has em. i for one am not interested in this game or a soul caliber rpg, what i would love to see is grandia, yep a next generation grandia. i have II for the dreamcast and even tho i stopped playin it years ago because of my add, it was ridiculous good.

@ #6

What is with killing hookers? There is no sense in killing them, because they are already dead inside.

Would you rather another RPG about a young boy's village being destroyed and the only way to avenge them is to fly around in an airship, collect party members, and slay colored dragons?

Anyways, I'm not trying to slander the FF series. So long as Trusty Bell is a good game, I'll give it a chance. It actually sounds interesting. If you have bothered to look at screenshots, you'd find the "dream world" looks intriguing.

It will help parents pick 360 over God of War sporting PS3 and maybe be a stalking horse against the argument that 360 is a violent FPS platform.

"But look, your kiddy can play as Chopin and you dont even have to buy him a piano?"

It does sound very WTFkish.

Excellent! Now I will have three -- count em -- three classical music games:

Sid Meier's C.P.U. Bach for the 3DO
Mad Maestro for the Playstation 2
and now ... this!

At least its not Ridge Racer 8 or Tekken 6 or Classic Collection 12. Looks like Namco is taking a page from Sega's book. Remember that crazy fish game with the microphone?

Maybe Sony and Namco are in bed together and are trying to take the Xbox 360 down from the software side. Its a HUGE conspiracy!!

Hey, at least Chopin is being presented under a (presumably) positive light.

You can't say the same for something like... oh, say... the anime Read or Die, which completely shit on the legacy of Beethoven.

I wonder if they can get Uematsu to do the game music. A game like this has to have good music in it. Where would they find good music to put in a game about Chopin?

Um... It's not like Uematsu is the only good composer in this world.

You need to listen to more music if you think he's the best. He's great, but there are better guys out there.

Hahahah, this is hilarious. You know your RPG is something unique when you make the Shadow Hearts series seem tame and realistic by comparison.

Oh man, what a waste. This is how the game industry deals with artistic license - by making an rpg. Sure it sounds fun because it's whacky but they might as well take out Chopin and just create their own fictional composer. His name on the cover won't help sales!

i don't think they're trying to use Chopin to sell games, since a majority of people doesn't have a clue who he is in the first place. i think there's likely just someone who is a fan at the company.

anyway, xboxyde has collected a bunch of images:
