Sonic 1 and Knuckles?!
Has that even existed before?
Certainly, when you plug Sonic 1 into S&K, you only get the mini-game select.
Matt Q @ Jun 23rd 2006 10:42PM
I don't see how any of those rare.
Kefka @ Jun 23rd 2006 10:49PM
I agree with Matt Q

They're rare if you don't have an original Sega Genesis and the plug-in hardware. I would rather play them online than have to dig up that old hardware on eBay.
Craig @ Jun 24th 2006 12:06AM
Or don't have the Sonic Mega Collection?

"They're rare if you don't have an original Sega Genesis and the plug-in hardware."
Dude, just because you don't have something doesn't make it rare. I don't have any Kelly Clarkson albums, but that doesn't mean they're rare either. I mean, talk about an ego-centric way of looking at the world.
If you don't have it, go out and buy it. The point of these things *not* being rare is that they're easy and cheap to obtain. I bought S&K for about 3 bucks and the other Sonic titles for less than that. If you don't like Ebay, you can find them at pretty much any thrift shop or even still some GameStop/EB stores.

Rare?? Well, I guess they are really rare that is, if you don't own an XBOX, PS2, Gamecube, Genesis, Saturn, or a PC, as those games have appered on all of those systems you see above.

Jeff: Dude, just because you have something doesn't make it common. I mean, I have gold cartridges for every Zelda game, but that doesn't make them common. I mean, talk about an ego-centric way of looking at the world.
If you have it, don't go out and buy it. The point of these things *being* rare is that they're actually quite hard to obtain in certain areas.
Kid Chemical @ Jun 24th 2006 1:36AM
Actually, the gold Zelda carts are quite common.
I was expecting maybe some old Sonic commercials, ads, songs, etc. Maybe even toss up an old Sonic SatAM cartoon.
Not games readily available everywhere.

When was Sonic rare? Every Gamestation I've seen has a copy of Sonic 1-3 for the Mega Drive just sitting there. cheap too.
hmm.
Reeve @ Jun 24th 2006 9:02AM
#9 - The games that are referred to are the versions of Sonic 1-3 that were originally unlocked by plugging the cartidges into Sonic and Knuckles. They aren't that rare, since they can be found on various Sonic collections, often as unlockable extras.
J Ron @ Jun 24th 2006 9:53AM
Actually they/he are talking about the carts with the pass through you can connect your sonic 1-3 (others?) into for a bonus game or something. Those things probally are rare/desirable/collectable considering I've only seen a handfull at the used game store compared to the 10,000 regular sonic carts I've come across.
Ben18 @ Jun 24th 2006 11:08AM
Well, besides the whole 'rare' argument, I love the original Sonic's. I've not enjoyed the new versions too much, I really haven't given them much time to be fair. But Sonic and the Sega Genesis was my introduction to video games, and I'll forever have some sentimental attachment to Sonic. I love every Genesis game he was in. Cheers to 15 years!
Sonic1 @ Jun 24th 2006 1:02PM
1 For the Genesis Sonic 1 and Knuckles doesn't exist.
2 Its the lock-on carts that are rare and not the games.
Scarred Sun @ Jun 24th 2006 2:06PM
Actually, Sonic researchers have been able to put Knuckles in Sonic 1:

I was curious since as some mentioned, Sonic 1 locked on to S&K just unlocked those Blue Sphere bonus games. Turns out that's what they meant by Sonic 1 and Knuckles, if you read the description on their game list.

Maybe the author of this post could update clarifying that this is just the Blue Sphere mini-game and not anything Sonic fans haven't seen before.
Scarred Sun that was an awesome link btw.
