A few days ago, we were sent a scan of a page from Nintendo Power. The image suggests that Final Fantasy III (DS) will feature Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection support. See the tiny blue icon?Today, IGN confirmed with Square Enix that FFIII would indeed be wi-fi enabled. Unfortunately the company representative added, "I can't reveal the details at this time." Final Fantasy III is scheduled for release on September 12.
[Thanks, Sean]

Sure it's a remake and sure it's milking the FF franchise for all it's worth.....but thank goodness FF is worth that much. Because milk never tasted so good.
And it's fortifide with Vitamin D. :)

Yes, but it's a remake of a game most people outside of Japan have never seen. "Final Fantasy III" as most people know it is Final Fantasy VI.
If that's not what you meant, then I apologize, but I see that misconception a /lot/.

I have beaten EVERY FF ever made. That means I have played all the JP games on ROMs. Unfortunately, it also means I puked my way through Mystic quest. :'(
That's my cheeky and arrogant way of saying....yes....I know it's not FF6. Sidebar though...FF6 is being ported to the GBA with some extras. I'm stoked for that as well. :)))

Seeing how I'm gay.....that, much like FF, sounds really "fucking" hot.

Now, I'm not saying it won't turn out to be interesting, but until I hear more I don't see a reason to care.

With that aside though, I'm completely happy that they're making use of DS wifi :D

While the anal visions you gave me are disturbing, i do understand your position. It was less than 2 years ago i thougt the FF games were the biggest pile of dog poopies ever made, and i alway argued that Zelda was a much better franchise. That was until the day i was stuck in a half empty house for a week and the only games they had were 007 racing and FFVII for the ps1.
Now i cant stand racing games, especially ps1 racing games so i thought "stuff it" and plugged in FFVII. I tell you what, after getting through the first disk, i was totally hooked, and i love the FF series now (Mainly FFVII and FFX/X-2). Just get into it, you wont regret it.

I used to have a friend to didn't even play Final Fantasy VII and just criticised it because it kept being labelled as the best RPG ever. Then one day, I told him to shutup and play the game already, and he did so. I didn't hear from him for about 3 weeks and then he emerged and wouldn't shutup about how awesome the music was and now Final Fantasy VII is one of his favourite games of all time.
While the series obviously isn't supposed to appeal to every single person, it just seems that you haven't really played a Final Fantasy game and calling it 'gay' because it's the cool thing around the 'net.

Final Fantasy VI is far better than FFVII when comes to characters, story, and gameplay. Oddly enough its a better looking game now. 3D games don't age well and I actually have an easier time going back to the old 2D FF games. Well FFIX hasn't aged that badly.
I had actually lost interest in Final Fantasy after suffering through 7 and 8. Thankfully FFIX was a good game and FFX was excellent. Too bad FFX-2 was so awful. Its one thing to make a bad game, but its another thing to make a sequel that bastardizes the world of the previous game. I used to want Final Fantasy direct sequels but X-2 cured me of that desire.

this way you can control your own guy in battle, and yell out to your friend to heal you. nothing better then hearing your 6'2" 220lbs friend shrieking at you to heal them.

I thought I was the only person that felt that way.
I loved Final Fantasy on the NES and the SNES. I absolutely couldn't stand FF7 FF8 and gave up by the time FF9 came out.
I still think the American FF3 is the best in the series. It's a shame that people think that the FF series didn't really start until it came out for the PS. The old 2D versions are better than the 3D versions. To this day I've never supported the PS FF because of this

I work with this girl that loves FF, but won't play the older versions because they're sprite based. Now, everyone is entitles to their opinion but to me, this is one of the most idiotic statements I ever heard. Keep in mind this female is supposed to be an "artist" from AI and a gamer. I find this disturbing because it caters to the belief that 2D is dead and there is no reason to support it. This is so far from the truth when (as I mentioned in my previous post) the 2D version still play great. I guess she never considered where the 3D version originated from but...oh well.
I have another friend that never played FF. He played FF X and kept telling me to play it. I told him no, it's not better than FF2 and FF3, I'll never play X. He didn't understand until he bought the releases of 2 and 3 for the GBA. Now he understands, he's still playing them to this day on his imported DS Lite.
I look forward to the ff3 remake because of the era in which the original was made. FF3 comes from an era when Square made better RPGs than they do now. The current FFs have great cut scenes and music but I still think the characters, story, magic and development are better in the older FFs.
WTF can't we get a update to Chrono Trigger or the orignal Mana Final Fantasy Adventure or Secret of MAna?

Played FF VIII all excitedly till I got past the first disk and realized how god awful it was. VIII was/is definatly the worst FF I've ever played. IX was redemptive though, until, again, the last part of the game where things just don't make any sense. And the villian was pretty lame. Never played X personally because, after watching my brothers play almost all the way through, it also looked pretty bad (and sounded awful, VAs = bleh).
Recently I went back and played FF III (jap VI) off the american cart (h8 roms... need that controller in hand, man) due to the aforementioned internet people's reccomendation but... really it wasn't all that different. The characters were cliched and the dialogue was pretty dumb, but I can blame that on the US translators I guess. What was pretty bad though was the combat system, it seemed clunky and random and nothing was explained so I felt like I had no control in a lot of battles. I got about... 30-40 hours in before it just got boring though and I've not got the desire to play again.
I guess the nostalgia factor for the first FF games plays a strong role in what one you like the most >_>

as for the wifi i think it would work playing agains each other but not co-op, that wouldn't work unless it was like Secret Of Mana type fighting, turn based only requires one person.
