Congratulations to Extra Life, now five years strong. Lots of cross-comic references this week -- we'll return to tinkering with the format next week, after I cool off from the recent comic incident. Here are our picks for best game-related webcomics this week, be sure to vote for your favorite!
being that Webcomic the movie was posted in the comments because someone was sad that their webcomic wasn't chosent to be voted on... I cannot vote for it. Sorry!
i wasnt at all saddened by the fact nobody got to vote for my comic. i got an honorable mention, and more people got to see it (if you reread the post you'll see that i thanked joystiq for the mention).
I wonder why it hasnt been selected for this wrap up, but not saddened. it gives me an excuse to push harder for hopes of next week.
I didnt nominate chex because i was sad, i did it because hes a big character among the webcomic community and i wanted joystiq to consider running him.
Tough vote this week. Mr. Buckley's Uwe Boll bit was an excellent chunk of funny and my first instinct was to vote for CAD. Far Cry: The Musical. :D
However, it's been a long time since I laughed so hard at a VGCats Comic, and as a thank you to Scott Ramsoomair I voted VGCats. Well done my countryman, well done indeed.
NSMB difficult? It was a great game and brought back a lot of memories but it's not THAT difficult. Sure it had some tough areas but really difficult? um no.
"Just kinda makes me wonder why it's only got 20% of the vote."
Many people don't like Tim Buckley because he's, in general, kind of a dick. So even if CAD suddenly became the best comic in the world, he'd still probably only get 20% of the vote here. He's personally pissed off most of the rest.
Damn, this was an exceptionaly good week for web comics I guess. I think this is the first time I have really had to think about what comic I was going to vote for.
I can name one of these that arent funny, as well as two. Heck, I can name all but two that aren't good. VGcats was a stroke of brilliance. And chekerboard Nightmare was great as well. And You have been reading CAD for a while, Mr. Pierski and Tim Buckley hasn't said he's being a punk. People don't admit they are wrong. Saying the word "people" implies that once in a blue moon they will admit to such an act. If you have time, check out his blog archives and see if he has ever mentioned erasing his WoW guild. Other webcomic artists have called him out on erasing his guild in a storm of immiturity. Not a really nice thing to do to you fans who joined up to follow in raids with their favorite web celebrity. I think he's a little biased myself, but I won't tear him apart for that though. And Joystiq, WTF? Why was there no Fanboys-Online? That site is just as good as anything you have put up for voting in the past two weeks. http://www.fanboys-online.com/index.php?cid=31 http://www.fanboys-online.com/index.php?cid=33 That second one is definitely up to snuff with little gamers.
for some reason, i'm actually more interested in Spore now than i ever have been up to this point. my interest spiked right after reading VG Cats. although it was little more than a humorous exaggeration of the game's possibilites, i think it was the "it has to poop to see" line that really opened my eyes. er, my "butts".
@Rafi Agreed concerning CAD But the VGCats one is regarding spore for the PC hence Will Wrightand his cameo. EA even liked it so much that they remade the comic with the same creatures, but IN GAME. So a creature with butts for eyes is indeed possible. Here is the remake:

Webcomic! The Movie!
for so excellently pointing out the failings of other webocmics! (And it went the high route, by avoiding an all-too-easy jab at Megatokyo!)
HotShotX @ Jun 24th 2006 11:30AM
Uwe Boll Killed = Webcomic WINNAR.

Maxis saw VGCats' comic and did their version:

As for this week, Comixpedia FTW.

Webcoming! The Movie! for it's accurate CAD spoof, and for making Gabe smoke a doobie.

Oh and Uwe Boll being killed FTW!
Tim @ Jun 24th 2006 2:40PM
If you ask me, these comics are all crap. I guess I will vote for the first one.
It's_A_me! @ Jun 24th 2006 2:49PM
Ewww, something stinks and I think it's ALL of those comics (I use that term VERY loosely). Where's the funny? I hate to be so blunt but they SUCKED.
TheBlunderbuss @ Jun 24th 2006 3:26PM
Finally, a VGCats I get.
Brilliant.
It's the kind of hope we all have for the possibilities of SPORE.
Shiro @ Jun 24th 2006 4:37PM
CAD was the only one that truly made me laugh. The others were entertaining, but I never actually laughed aloud.
Just kinda makes me wonder why it's only got 20% of the vote. Especially since nobody likes Uwe Boll.

I'm sorry but my vote goes to penny-arcade for their comic about the WoW-patch.. hilarious!
Why doesn't joystiq let me choose it?! :(

Rafi @ Jun 25th 2006 2:19AM
C+A+D usually have brilliant ideas in hand, but execute it, quite frankly, in a stupid manner with way too much gore.
Does the VG Cats one have anything to do with games?
The Dueling Analogs one was brilliant, hence I voted for it =]
So was the Extralife one, but Dueling Analogs defeated it with their play on Little Gamers, which was also pretty awesome.

To 22: VG Cats is about Spore. That is Will Wright with one of the VG Cats as God in the last frame.
Levi @ Jun 26th 2006 2:44PM
I mean...21...or Rafi...whatever.
