Pink is the new DS Lite

As if the DS Lite weren't hip enough with its iPod-like coolness, now Nintendo is going the RAZR route and dressing up their little handheld darling in pink -- you know, for the ladies. So far, only available in Japan starting on July 20, it's only a matter of time before tons of tweenie girls here in the States start to demand their own pink version. Guess we sort of all saw this coming, as Nintendo loves to dress up their new products in different colors. I'm still waiting for the black DS Lites to get here and Japan already has pink. No fair! What color would you want?

I really dont care what color the system is, I mean, they're cool if the color you want is available at the time you get it, but for me, so long as the system plays great and has good games, I dont give two shits about the color. If I had to choose, the black looks damn sexy.

My wife loves ANYTHING pink and I think she was a little upset that when I mentioned this article. Not that she plays the DS regularly, but I can only imagine how much this will boost sales for the female demographic. Now if they can get a photo with Paris Hilton playing one, then they're sales will go through the roof. I'm surprised Sony hasn't colored their PSP yet.

How about a transparent DS Lite? I always thought those transparent purple N64 systems were pretty badass, though it would be better without the purple.

Gold would also be good.

i dunno, i liked the white ones to begin with and love it now that it's in my hands, but i think i might like it better if it weren't so glossy. i think i'd like a nice matte white or even black.
anyone who's got one: have you folks had any problems with scratches? mine is as immaculate as i got it, but it's only been a few days and i've been real gentle with it... i'm wondering if i should handle it with care or if it can take a little abuse.

Orange or yellow...I'd settle for green. The color doesn't really matter that much as long as they keep putting out awesome games for it.

I don't understand how pink came to be the "girl" color, as I've been female all my life and never did like pink. (Except on Kirby. He can be as pink as he wants.) Give me a nice teal blue any day.

Anyway, in a DS Lite I'd seriously go with either white or that teal-ish color, whatever they call it. I just don't think this thing goes well with dark colors, especially black. It just doesn't have that "badass" sort of design, like the PSP does. It's just not a manly machine no matter how light-absorbing you make its shell. So, take it for what it is - it's a bright, friendly, extremely Japanese-ish handheld.

I think this design lends itself well to almost any pastel color you could come up with.

I bought a white, but if a really good color comes out eventually I might be tempted to sell mine at a loss on eBay and buy a color one.

The white is fine and doesnt get as dirty as I had thought, but it's a little boring. I don't think I'd trade it in for a black, but maybe for a red or orange one...

Funny that this is listed under Fashion. I call my DS Lite my latest and greatest fashion accesory to complement my imported pink SP, with my pink iPod mini, and my pink Bluetooth headset. I lamented the face that I had to go with white (though I'm not sorry I did... yay games!!) for the Lite and now to find out they're coming out in pink...looks like I'll be importing again. W000t!!

I would like a Red myself but I can also see why NoA decided to only release with White. There are so many consumers out there wanting different colors and it would be too costly to manufacture DS Lites for those few individuals who want a specific color.

They should however add black to their repertoire, that's a given.

Freezair, same here. My sister wants a White DS Lite, and my girlfriend a Black ("it will look best in the dark"). If I was feeling all metrosexual I'd opt for pink. but I know at least 1 straight guy who would love a Pink DS. I can't imagine any girls i know getting one. funny how it works like that. this stereotype.

When did pink automatically get associated with girls? I loathe the color pink and am holding out to see if they ever release a red one or a black one in the states. I'm disgusted by all of the blog entries I've seen about this one saying "omg, it's finally one for girls!" Females like a plethora of other colors you know, and most of the females I know hate pink.

And, besides, Nintendo really just needs to allow you to custom order one in any color you want anyways. Kinda like how http://www.colorwarepc.com/Default.aspx does.

I'm a guy, yet I've been waiting for a pink DS since they announced multiple colors. I'm secure enough to sport a pink accessory from time to time.

How about a throwback one? Kind of like the SP that looked like the original nintendo? With Grey/Black/Red/White. I think that would be sweet. Or Dual colored ones. Like a black on the outside with white insides or any number of combinations. Black/Red, Green/Gold, Pink/Purple, etc...
