Kyle Cease, a stand-up comedian who also had roles in 10 Things I Hate About You and Not Another Teen Movie, covers NES sub-culture in this clip from one of his acts. Kyle sends up everything from out-of-touch parents ("MOM! PRESS THE B BUTTON!"), the fragility of the cartridge slot and the "suspenseful" music made out of bleeps.

Its soooo true lol. I still blow on mine to date. I suppose I could by a new 72 pin connector, but Im to lazy and blowing seems like a good solution.

I too was also annoyed when people would not hold B and make mario run.

I've actually taken to blowing on things to help them work - my mobile phone charger is a bit dodgy so everytime i plug it in i blow on it. It usually works. :-)

It's all true! At the end of my NES's life I had some crazy tricks to get that thing to work. I had a routine!

Lets hope we don't have to blow our Wii.

i know i dont have anything positive to say and your site has no obligation to post costant fresh content, but this is soooooo so so old.

I have no idea why this was, but he's 100% right - how many times you'd be working on a buddy's cartrige for like 20 minutes only to have him say "pff, give it to ME" and in two seconds he'd have the game up and running.

Heh, pneumatic maintenance is second only to percussive maintenance in number of video game hardware problems solved. I personally prefer a combination of the two, myself.

I'm too young, but I do remember blowing on the playground to play Game Boys Original through Color.

For anyone who's used the Classic, do you remember the battery roll? The light starts going out, you take all the batteries out, roll them on the ground, you get maybye three more seconds of play time?

Personally, the shirt trick worked best on my NES.

Two cart-gaming staples: denatured alcohol and cotton swabs.

There should be an established definition for what NSFW means. In my mind swearing is not in that definition.

If only you could fix your PS2 by blowing on it. My NES still works but you have to balance it on it's side.

I know some places where this would be just fine, Shank, but some places where you would risk trouble for playing that clip. Maybe we need to take a cue from the ESRB and have descriptors for NSFW tags. This would clearly be NSFW - F-bomb.

This guy came to our college my freshman year. Good to hear his act hasn't changed since then. Also good to hear that it hasn't been cleaned up any, either.
