One of my favorite weapons has got to be the grappling hook in Painkiller. Nothing like having 20 guys coming at you while you grab em all with that gun and fling them over your head. Not quite as versatile as the gravity gun, but that's beside the point. That gun made for some fun.


You've gotta fling the guys over your head with the grappling hook, whip out the shotgun and use the secondary body-freezing bullets and nail them in mid air. Hell, take any gun and just knock those suckers out of the air like flies.

A FPS that brought back gameplay that I've missed so much.... Painkiller. =]

red shell, blue shell- the red shell led way to the blue one. but, in either case- first place Always gets screwed by one or the other around that last turn in baby park. that's usually the point in which i slam my ds shut or begin violently shaking the wavebird.

The Cerebral Bore should have been like 5th and everything moved down. And the second last weapon from turok 1 should have been there, i cant remember the name, we just called it the mushroom cloud gun. It would level trees and annihlate enemies where they stood.

The best weapon ever was pee. Yeah, you heard me. Pee. From Conker's Bad Fur Day. Nothing pisses (no pun intended) off your friends more than "peeing them to death". ^_^

Soda Pop from Zombies Ate My Neighbors was pretty fun to use. Just chuck it at a zombie.

I'm sure they thouroughly explained that in Doom 3 - just can't remember, what it was about.

Where is the pistol from Halo? That is THE best weapon in any first person shooter. It's quick, accurate, powerful and often standard on many maps. What more do you want? By the time any of these weapons were shot you'd be dead thanks to the pistol.

What about the Glove of Doom from Ratchet & Clank? That was more fun than the legal limit, I swear.

I see someone else also remembered the pure awesomeness of Earthworm Jim 2's Broad-Side-of-a-Barn Blaster.

I know I'm just about the only person who played Gotcha Force for the Gamecube, but the Satellite Beam (held by the Beam Gunner) was obscene juggling death. Of course, if you want to go for destructive power, there was always the Ultimate Beam held by the Ultimate Cannon. Absolutely guaranteed to take out anything in one shot - and it covered a good 20% of the playing field when used (but damn, did it take forever to charge).

And personally, I've always found that you truly know someone who understands Super Smash Bros. if they say the Home Run Bat is the weapon to be feared the most.

Lets take it another direction. How about the top 10 most useless wepons.

What about the Klobb from Goldeneye. HAHAHA!

Ten most useless weapons? Hmm... here are some nominees:

Bubble gun, Earthworm Jim 2
Mop, Chrono Trigger & Final Fantasy series
Wooden Sword, Kingdom Hearts

I was always partial to the Rocket Launcher in the 007 series, it was the one that you could control and steer once the rocket was fired.

Another favorites from Golden Eye (such a great game) the Mines and you detinate them whenever your oppenent entered the area that you had placed them...This weapon really made multi-player a blast...

Master Sword, especially from WW (Down Thrust at the end, you know what I mean)

Obviously none of those people played Painkiller. The Stake Gun is an exceptoinally enjoyable weapon!

I might also consider tossing in the Canon from Serious Sam.

The rail gun should've been higher up in that list though, and whoever was playing for the video was certainly not skilled as they were using it as a shotgun.

Disk launcher from Tribes. 'Nuff said.

Bow Gun, RE3. 700 arrows scattered around the game, and you need every one to take out one friggin' zombie.

all you ratchet and clank fans are forgetting the grandaddy of chicken lauching games. southpark for N64. that game had some of the most superb and creative weaponry to date. i challenge anyone to come up with a game with a more complete nasty set of weapons.

this is only a question for older gamers.... this game wasnt quite timeless.

The phased array cannon from Homeworld 2. Mmmmmm.

my fave "weapon" is the Katamari.

you can level an entire city with it in minutes.

Doom - Shotgun (it just felt so cool)
Halo - Pistol
Halo 1 & 2 - Sniper

What about Johnny Xtreams rocket launcher that fires chainsaws that xplode? Beat that...
P.S. Ahhh the watch laser in goldeneye was...priceless

The Nail Gun equivalent in F.E.A.R was GREAT, you could stick like 4 or 5 bolts in a guys skull, and they were HUGE! The instagib enhanced shock rifle from Unreal Tournament was great too, and the flak cannon totally deserves a place on the list. South Park 64's cow launcher was pretty sweet. I also LOVED the head-cannon-tank thing cheat for GoldenEye.

What about the redeemer from Unreal Tournament

Atma weapon from FF3. it grew in strength as you gained xp while using it.

I think it was a pretty decent list. An honourable mention could go to the "Hand of God" in Rise of the Triad.

Doom chainsaw:

In doom 3 the chainsaws on mars thing was explained in one of the datapad recordings. In his log recording he was explaining how a shipment got screwed up and chainsaws were shipped instead of some other part. He suspected it was a joke.
