I love the fact that the main character had the same reactions to the enviroment that i did. Also the gravity changing ability is very different, maybe a little gimmicky but it works. "I need More Cow Bell!"

"Contained within the 1.17GB demo (well over the 449MB PC version)"

Yes, that's partly due to the fact that the PC demo is compressed before you install it. The demo you download on the 360 isn't compressed. It gets downloaded as is, which is why you don't install anything on the 360.

That said, the demo was actually pretty cool. Very grusome game; my sister walks in as I headshot an enemy and see his head fly off as his body comes towards me for an attack. Took a couple of kills but she got used to the gore after a while. I'll definately consider buying this when it comes out. But if the game is just the same thing as the demo, but extended, then I'm not so sure...

I Just played the 360 version , i had previously downloaded the PC version and all i can say i WOW, this game is a system seller, the controls are better implemented than the keyboard and mouse, this is one of those rare occasions where the console version of the game is better than its PC cousing, the multiplayer could be fixed, but even without the multiplayer this game is a 360 KILLER APP, only the second one since OBLIVION, and even oblivion played better on the pc so it really dosnt count, if you havent download it, go do it right now.

I honestly don't understand how someone can play that demo and be like "This is just doom 3 with gimmicks!!". If anything, Doom 3 itself was little more than a graphical "gimmick" to begin with and really did nothing else to further or challenge previous FPS ideas.

Prey isn't the most mindblowing game FPS game I've ever played, but it has some interesting ideas that are very well executed. There was some nice use of the portal idea, the anti-grav walls are fun to play with and the game just has a nice presentation. I thought that opening segment with Tommy riding around, clamped down to that table was just very cool.

In a world where a game like FEAR can be considered mind-blowing despite looking bland as hell, featuring a handful of enemy designs, having a cliche story and NOT being scary at all I have to wonder what in the world this demo could possibly be doing wrong for some people.

Better on PC!!!!

This game really looks like $hit on the 360. The Multiplayer is atrocious as well. If you have a high end PC, get it. If you are forced to buy it for the 360, do not attempt multiplayer, it has more lag issues than COD2 did. I hope the FEAR port looks better than this.

I guess people like 'deeznuts' don't know what "unfinished code" means.

(a) It doesn't run like $hit and I played the full SP demo last night AND the PC version. My PC is a AMD Dual Core CPU, Geforce 7800 SLI setup, 2GB RAM.

(b) You are comparing a game that came out for the 360 8 months ago versus a game that isn't even finsihed yet.

Xbox 360 is more powerful than any computer for mentioned. The reason being its 3 cores and two threads per core. that is 6 total processes at once. Just because you have 1 gb or 2 gb of ram doesnt make up for the lack of processor capability.

Two cores are less than 3 cores. An AMD dual core is like one of Xbox 360 cores with 1 thread. The 360 still has two more cores and two more threads to go. The Xbox 360 is the far more superior gaming system than a PC.

Furthermore the Xbox 360 is designed and optimized for gaming. Secondly who wants to spend thousands of dollars to try to match the Xbox 360 in performance?

I know I dont. I hate downloading drivers, and all the nonsense associated with PC Gaming. Give me a console anyday.

I have a PC. An AMD 64bit 3400+ with a GEFORCE graphics card with 128 MG of Ram. It is not the best but by no means a slouch. However I cant stand playing games on the computer because it is a pain in the ass.

Consoles forever which is why the console gaming market is larger than the PC gaming market.

@fwacce

i was going to give you your trolling merit badge, but you didn't quite make it. first of all you responded to someone who said 'to each their own' with a list of reasons why the ps3 is better than the 360 but a lot of your reasons are flawed or short sighted.

do you want demos or not? you say you want a bigger hard drive to download 'stuff like this' and then you say you want to play real games rather than demos.

here's a free tip. the ps3 like the xbox 360 will have both great games, and great demos of games that aren't out yet.

it'll be a while before the ps3 library catches up with the xbox 360 library, if indeed it does. in that first year of owning one there will be periods of drought just as their was in the first year of the ps-one and ps2.

just FPS? 15 of the top 20 rated xbox 360 titles aren't FPS... and that's counting Oblivion as a first person shooter.

as for the hard drive point... who knows what sized hard drive might come bundled with the 360 come the end of the year.

anyways, having owned a 360, having downloaded a whole bunch of demos, drive space has never been an issue for me and when i eventually pick up a ps3, i'll be getting the 20 gig version because i know from experience that 20 gigs is plenty.

so no troll badge, but get this!

here's your fanboy badge.

wanting to wait to see which is better between the ps3 and xbox 360 is fine. feeling that an xbox 360 is worth the cost for the games that are out on it, is fine. deciding that a console that isn't out yet is unquestionably better than one that is?

that's being a fanboy. why did you post in a thread about a 360 demo again?

"So based on a short demo using unfinsihed and unoptimized you already know how the game will be and how it will run?

Ummm...ok."

You really think the game that ships next week is going to be more polished than the demo that was released like 3 days ago? umm. got news for you. Those discs are being boxed up right now in a factory somewhere or even en route to retail stores. I doubt the retail game will be any better performance and graphics wise.

1. PC vs Xbox graphics quality and play smoothness. Um yeah its going to look better on a good PC than on a $400 xbox. You get what you pay for.

2. MP lag is probably due to the high server load from all the people playing the demo, this will hopefully be fixed before the retail game hits the shelves.

3. My opinion of the game. The demo was longer than most I've played which was nice. I felt that it really gave a good indepth look at what the game will be like in full. Played solid and with no noticable bugs. Cool and original weapons. The gravity switching is a fun and less overdone game element. Also the portals are disorienting in a fun way. Looks incredible on a 1080p LCD, also good sound. I love that there aren't alot of cinematics to drive the story, voice acting wasn't the best but it plays like a good B movie. I do however find the setting of the game a bit unoriginal. Cramped, dark, high tech hallways with organic pulsing slimey walls. Wow, never been seen before. But its still a great game I will probably buy, lots of cool stuff and only one complaint about the played out setting. Oh yeah, the MP sucks, but thats an afterthought for me. The SP is the real deal, xbox just wants everything to help sell the xbox live so every game thats SP has a lame xbox live element. Whatever.

Umm yea it is a possibility. I work in the industry (I'm not going to say where) test unfinished games all the time and sometimes demos are based on slightly older code. It's not always the case but it is the case sometimes.

Oh and I know the game will run smoother on a PC but that is ONLY if your PC is powerful enough to run it. However if you don't have a meaty PC (like me) then a $400 console that is able to run the game pretty damn close to a high power PC is pretty impressive.

I can tell that a lot of people here aren't considering the fact that 360 games are able to be patched. So what if the demo MP is laggy, so what if the retail versions MP is laggy when it comes out. It can be patched on the release date or soon after!!!
I realise that it would be better if it didn't need to be patched but hey, who really cares as long as the developers keep working on making it work well. I'm sure that they aren't going to leave bugs in when they fix them. remember people, these aren't the days of old when you got your game on a cartridge and they couldn't be patched. besides, this game really does rock and the controls are really good. I am an ex pc gamer and hate most fps control scheme but the Doom3 engine is the best on a console.

I have both a 42" Hi-Def Tv with a 360, and a "Meaty" computer. I stand by my comments. I understand the hardware in both better than most. The problem is that programmers haven't quite figured out how to use 3 cores and the game is not optimized for it. The PC version is optimized for dual core and it shows. As for the "Unfinished Code" remark. This demo was released last week(PC), the game went gold a few days after. Even if the demo was based off old code, it still isn't that old!!! This game lags VERY badly with only 4 people!!! I am a HUGE fan of all things Microsoft(Fanboy if you must!) I am not biased of PC or 360. I am just giving my PROFESSIONAL opinion. I also made the FEAR port comment because this is a PC port. If you don't agree, do your homework. I am offering advice for those of us who have the OPTION of buying either version. If you do not have that luxury, then the 360 version is great. Just beware of MAJOR lag issues.

P.S. The chance of this issue being fixed before it went gold is slim to none.(Call of Duty 2 anyone?) My guess is that a "Patch" via XBL will be released by the end of summer.

So because some people prefer a game on PC of 360.. they're PS3 fanboys?

Ooookkk...You would think 360 fans would be PC fans and vice versa since both systems have the same programming features for the most part (THanks XNA!).

But seriously if someone likes it on their PC over their 360, let them voice their opinion... just like some people like games on PS2 over xbox, or 360 over PC etc.

They still like the game, so whats the big deal?

As for myself, I'll probably more than likely get prey on my PC. Why? Because i spend more time on it during the day thats why!.
The Demo on the 360 was good and sold the game for me, but games like that i just PREFER on PC, not knocking the 360 and lord knows i want more games for the system.
Besides depending on peoples set ups, the game may indeed look better than on the 360. I mean Oblivion looked many times better on my PC over the 360 version plus it had mods (Big fan of mods over here), does that mean the 360 version sucked? No, just wasn't myc up of tea.

So really if someone liked the game... who cares what platform they get it for? Some will always prefer a certain platform over the next, just the way it is.

DeezNuts420 your professional opinion???? are u a game developer ?? boy I have at my disposal a ALIANWARE Aurora ALX FX 62 - Quad SLI and to be honest on the single player mode, Ill chose the 360 version anyday, its so easy to pic up, the controler feels as tight as Halo if not better, the only thing the PC version have going is the Lighning effects , But playing it on a 42HD tv belive me it almost look the same, you'll be an idiot or a stupid moron that lives on a 3rd world country to compare a game that plays only on a HIGH END SYSTEM with a console game and with only marginal improvements.

I have no Comment on the Online mode because at this point its Bad.

Well Aze... one would have to wonder... why would you spend so much money on an alienware system... only to turn around and play a game (which i'm assuming you bought a 6 grand + Quad SLI set upf or) on something else? Wouldnt your money be better spent on a game for your 6 grand plus PC than for your 400 console? With all things even. Especially considering a lot of high end PCs can be media centers nowadays.

I mean when you're talking about a computer like that.. why not have it hooked up to a 1080p TV and have wireless everything and you're experience would surpass a console experience. Plus they have a 360 controller out on PC's that i'm sure the game can use.

Seriously why would you buy a 6 thousand dollar PC and then NOT want to buy games for it? besids there's nothing out right now that fully utilizes all of the 360 or quad SLI pc's power. Probably wont be for a while.

JJ ,All iam saying is that people keep on trashing the 360 version over the PC version when I seriously cannot see the big leap in performance from the PC version Over the 360 version , If the game could match the 360 version on a regular gaming PC, then I would not even be writing this post, not everione have a High-End PC to play this game that "BARELY" surpass the 360 version GRAPHIC wise, Not on the controls, JJ remember, if you plug a controler on FPS game on a PC it REALLY donsnt make sense to play it on a PC, tell that to a PC gamer and they will tell you to go play with your console, PC FPS is based on mosuse+keyboard, Not in fancy wireless gamepads.

Iam not biased, I would recommend anyone the PC version of Oblivion over the 360, It Looks better, It plays Better, it just do everithing better than the 360 version.

In conclusion what I realize is that this game keeps up with the PC version so far, so why go trough all the Installation, Configuration and Upgrading problems when the 360 version is awsome.

Oh and azesino if you DID buy that Alienware system you are talking about...talk about a waste of money. Buying an Alienware (or Voodoo PC, or any other overpriced system) doesn't make you 'l337.' But if you have access to one but didn't buy it...that person must sure like to waste their money.

I thought the voice acting was brilliant myself. And I really liked the way tommy talks, I'm so fed up with HL inspired silent heros.

The gameplay was brilliant, I smiled the whole way through :)

Was a bit disapointed by the graphics in places, it looks great for sure, but I thought Doom3 looked better. Also frankly I feel games like Hitman blood Money look better, even though they obviously don't have nearly as great tech, they spend more time on fancy textures that make a great impression to make up for the tech. Also the people in blood money look great, while the people in prey (Tommy/Jen) look a little dated.

But gameplay is important, and I'll be buying Prey for sure.

I just love PC gamers. I really do. You have to. I mean, they come into a thread about a 360 demo and just start bashing away, screaming out stats that nobody really cares about. Is the topic of the thread "Tell us your PC rig's stats and bash 360!"? No. But what you have to keep in mind is, these are the type of people who will bring a Corvette Z06 to a Honda meet and talk mess to absolutely everybody. "Dude, my supercharged, twin-turbo, Eaton, 454 SS big block, NOS injected, intercooled, V-tec, Limited edition Lingenfelter Sledgehammer Type S Z06 on drag radials will SMOKE your stock Honda Accord! WHAT?? WHAT?? YOU WANNA GO??!?!"
Lame....

The point is, not all of us feel like throwing away a ton of money on something as pointless as a PC. For the price of a high-end graphics card, I could buy the entire Xbox 360 library. Am I a fan boy? Nope. Will I be accused of being one? Well naturally. Why? Because I'm calling a spade a spade. And the fact is, the only reason PC gamers hate the Xbox 360 so much is because it can deliver the exact same experience to the player that a high end PC can for a ton less cash. Sorry, but just like the guy who bought the fastest model car last year, this year you are obsolete. That's the way it goes. Of course, yes, you can always upgrade the PC. Heck, I'm a computer technician. That's what I do. But playing a video game, any video game, isn't worth $4,000 to me. As it stands, I have a $400 console that I can play the same games on as someone with a $6,000 computer can. And I can do it on a big screen HDTV if I want to. So do us all a favor. Pick your fights better and let this one go. The PC gaming market is shrinking at an alarming rate every year, and there's a reason for that. Consoles are getting more advanced and have now caught up to the high-end PC experience. Will there be people who flame me for this post? Oh, I'm certain. But the great thing will be watching the faces of all the PS3 fanboys when the same PC gamers they are bashing the 360 with right now come under fire from the same crowd they formally supported when PS3 launches. People just have to have the best of everything. Nobody can just be happy to have what they have anymore. Its ridiculous, sad, and unfortunately, the standard in the world today. I have a PC and an Xbox 360, as well as nearly every other console ever made. Just because I like to play my games on 360 doesn't mean I'm going to act like a 12 year old kid and spew pointless insults at you because you like to play on PC. What shows through in the attitude of high-end PC gamers is the fact that they are nothing more than spoiled children that can thank their parents for forking out the cash for a good PC. Is that an insult? Nope. Simply fact. Don't believe me? You'd have to be illiterate not to see the arrogance in their statements. "Quad SLI". Who cares? Take it to a geek-speak forum, but it doesn't belong here.

And on topic, the Prey demo was awesome and I will definitly be picking it up. I can't wait for all the games coming out this winter. Its shaping up to be an excellent holiday to be a gamer, with new systems launching and a ton of good games on the way.

So there's my $.02

Umm...yes I do know that and I do have PLENTY of friends from all over the game industry as various types of artists (plus I will be too in the near future.) Guess what? NONE of them would ever buy an Alienware system and would prefer to build thier own systems. Some of them either know how to build their system and know how to troubleshoot problems easily (such as myself)...and the other half have their friends build them systems (which I also do.) It takes a DAY to build a system (even a uber beefy gaming machine) and install all the software.

For the record...I'm talking about a PERSONAL machine at home and not machines that would be purchased at work. Where I work, I use 4 Dell XPS systems all the time and another department has 7-8 Alienware systems at their disposal.

Just b/c you aren't capable of building a full machine that is 100% stable system in a short amount of time doesn't mean everyone can't. I've been building systems of all types for YEARS so I know what I'm doing.

Plus...a quad SLI system for gaming is damn near USELESS b/c there are no games that will FULLY use all that power and justify spending that much money.
